Centre consol removal

Hi

Just wondering if anyone can help me out. I have a vx Clubsport and need to replace the rubber mount where the gearstick is due to the ruber being cracked. To to this I have toi remove the centre consol. I am wondering whether I have just take out the silver plastic cover which should be easy to do or if the whole centre consol has to come out, and if so whats the best way of doing it without damaging the plastics.

to get to the gear stick you dont have to remove the console just the gear stick surround
there is 2 screws under the storage bit that is under the stereo
then just pull the boot up then pop the power window switch out then pull the whole surround up
it is quiet easy
