yep another boring tyre question....
trying to decide between Federal 595EVO and Khumo KU31 for my car for the new rims.
I am leaning towards a particular one but want ppls opinions, experiences with them etc.
They will be 245 fronts and 275 rears on 20" rims.
price difference between the two is negligable.

Definately go the kumho, they perform heaps better, quieter and balance up better. There is no comparison between the two.:)

What sort of price are the Khumo KU31
in 245 fronts and 275 rears? Cheers
I haven't had the Federals but I had the 19 inch version of the Kumho (245 front and 275 rear) on the VE Calais. Loved them so much that when the OEMs on the Clubby needed replacing (thanks to a flat) I went with the Kumhos.
Haven't replaced the front OEM ones on the Clubby yet, just the rears. A set of 2 rear 275/35/19 Kumhos for the rear fitted and balanced was about $700 [MET].

I've got KU31's on my car and my experience has been exactly opposite that of Black Diamonds. They have very poor grip (compared the the Pirelli P7's I previously had 245/17) and make a lot of noise. The only thing I like about these tyres is the road-hazard warranty (for $3 extra per tyre) which I've already been saved by once. That said though, I won't be going Kumho again.

no worries, i am due for a change to my 20x8"wheels & tyres, thinking of going 9.5-10" rears with 275's. I'll call up, but my guess is that they are about $325ish-245 and $400ish for 275 which seems pretty reasonable to me :D

The KU31s rate pretty highly for relatively cheap tyres on http://www.tirerack.com/tires/surveyresults/surveydisplay.jsp?type=UHP

Yep. I'm sure hoping they are good as am getting a set of near new second hand KU31s I bought from someone on here fitted tomorrow when I get my new 20x10 rear rims. The place doing the fitting for me told me a new set of 2 275/30/20 and 2 245/35/20 like I got near new would be around the $1500 mark.

I've got absolutely no complaints with the KU31 tyres. They are brilliant and cheap as ($161 from Payless for 18"). I've got KU31 on my Calais and Yokohama C Drives on the SS. C Drives are a brilliant tyre but expensive ($225 for 17"), KU31s are better in the dry (slightly, catch oversteer better) and the C Drives are better in the wet.

Opinion may not count coming from a 'ricer' :D
But i like the federals. For the money you pay, i think grip, life, noise etc they offer sensational value for money.
I have no real experience with the Kumho's, but i have used their race tyre and to be honest, not worth the hype....rather diassapointing.
Hope that helps.

What about Marshal tyres? They are made by kumho with the same tread pattern as the KU31 and a bit cheaper. Never used them myself but I might give them a go if the price is right when I need some.

i am all for a good deal on a tyre but aint gonna go for something cheap and nasty...
tyres, brakes, suspension are key components and i will spend what is needed to meet and exceed what the car needs.
hence the Federals are slightly ahead due to being more stickier than the Kumhos....
so no one out there has ever run Federals 595EVOs on there LSX or LXX??:eyes:

I've had 3 sets of khumo 20's and find them to be a good tyre for all round driving wet or dry,

Had the KU31s on my old VYSS. Really good tyre and were heaps better than the OEM Bridgestone’s
Not sure if it was the wheel alignment, but as soon as I got the KU31s on, the car never tram lined again and gripped up well off the mark and around corners.
KU31's = Good Bang for Bucks

mate who is member on here keeps giving me crap saying that he reckons there is no way a cheaper tyre like a Kumho, Federal, etc is gonna be better than a Bridgestone tyre
but to be honest i find the OEM bridgestones SH1T...will be able to see when the rims and new federals go on
