Hey guys im new to this forum and thought id post some pictures of my ute.
the only mods so far is
lowered on superlow king springs
ss rear mufflers
ss rear sail plain
air hammer cold air induction system
painted engine covers which didnt work out have to get redone
power window closing module (closes when u lock the car)
soon to have pacemaker extractors, x force stainless steel cat back, 20 inch 5 spoke black rims with chrome lip. bonnet mounted guages and gauges in where the center speaker go. bored throttle body , intake spacers, haltech interceptor chip, maybe a cam regrind and some porting. Iterior wise i want to paint some trim same colour as the car and on monday i have a parrot 3100 bluetooth mobile system coming , and a rear aux input cable from no limits car electrics lets you use the rear input to the headunit with out having dvd screen like ssv models and a HARMAN KARDON DRIVE + PLAY system which basicaly duplicates your ipod controls and screen onto a dash mounted lcd screen.

IM DREAMING
would like leather seats
ssv center console radio
those red dash panels off ssv

I cant post links yet i just found out but i already wrote all that so would someone mind posting them up if i send u the urls? cheers

i'll post them for you mate. where you getting the bored throttle body from mate? the xforce system is a waste on the mate too big just get some hi flow rear mufflers pacies and hiflow cats. no real need to go aftermarket ecu the stock one can be easily retuned to suit your mods.

i have been told that u cant reprogram the ecu for the v6? also if i get the cam regrind wont i need more paramaters to be able to tune hence the new ecu?

i need a post count of 10 to send pm or put pics up but i posted already and it still says 0 ?

bored throttle body is going to be done by a guy here in lithgow its a factory one just cleaned up the rough surfaces and cleaned up. cant expect to much from a sv6.

there are 2 workshops in sydney that seen to put a bit of effort into the Alloytec.

Castle Hill Exhaust and BTA motrsports, check the sponsers area. but as mentioned it could be afew weeks until they can tune your car because like mine it's a MY08 they've just released the update for the MY08 V8's so hopefully the alloytec wont be far off.

and no your factory ecu should be able to run the cams fine no one replaces the ecu on the v8 even afters turbos etc unless they are going for every last %.

for a daily your much better off retaining the factory ecu.

mate can i get the name of the company that is machining out your throttle body?

Nice what are you using to paint the calipers.

vht brake caliper paint around 12 bucks at repco
i cheated a little didnt paint the back side but u dont see that from the front anyway i took the part that holds the pads in off and painted that 3 coats than baked it in the oven at 100 degrees for 1 hour and its rock solid the other part i couldnt put in the oven cause its got pistions and rubber boots on it so its just drying in the house still a little tacky

if ur going to do this i recommend u set aside some time to do it as taking the caliper off will require u to bleed the brakes again u can paint it on the car but u need to mask so much off as the paint will go everywhere. any guys out there got some tips on brake pads for dba rotors that wont chew the rotors up in a few laps as i dont wanna have to get the machined all the time . Also where would i get some braided brake lines and do they help ?

was so bummed about them bringing out them 60th utes i missed out :vpo:
yeah gives me time to work on the ute i spose but makes it difficult to get to work. long story short i was chased by a copper who was off duty un uniformed and in his own personal vehicle and yet he took me to court for sppeding and negligent driving. aparently i had flashed my high beams at him causing him to almost crash bloody toss :vpo:

hey all just an update i bolted on my painted caliper this morning and took some photos, also removed the left hand side to do the same to it so that should be on tomorrow. tell me what u guys think,

? drilled rotos will decrease stopping power?

monaro327

yep drilled rotors are for looks and show but actually offer no stopping advantage all they do is remove surface area.

slotted rotors work well.

Hey just a update i bought and painted a real hsv gts front bar for my ute, and fitted it this arfternoon still need fog and driving lights

( PM me if you have some for the gts ve)

Im going to paint the chrome strip black to blend in with the black on the hsv bar,

Also couldnt get those little black parts for the corners of the lower grill but my cai sits just near that so it could only help with more air running to it.

In the third picture if you look through the fog light you can see the cai.

Tell me what u guys think

You did a great job on the rear of your car with changing the lights to hsv and all that,

Yeah I debadged mine on the rear as i didnt like the big holden badge,

And wanted to get all the dirty out of the badges when i was polishing it,

but broke my sv6 badge which i liked so ill have to get a new one.

When i was at my dealer he qouted $ 800 for the maloo side skirts unpainted not bad i recon but i need a maloo tailgate and rear bar :vpo:.

I think yours looks good with the black parts painted the same colour and the chrome strip kinda looks classy,

Where as with mine it will have black rims black bonnet mould and all that so it will set it off once its all done

Hey everyone
just a update ( no pictures)
Put on my new exhaust i got from grommz today, but it needs to be extended as it was from a sedan to ute,
not much around 2 and half inchs so its going down to the local exhuast bloke to have the new section welded in for free in stainless so ill pick it up tomorrow, cant wait.
Ill try to get some pics next time i have it up on the lift at me dads work.

Compared to the new one the old one looks so SH*T and also had a big dent in one of the pipes probably resricting the flow a bit,
Funnything was it was between the middle muffler and the hotdogs and was on the top side (as in facing the ute not the ground)
And the exhaust showed no sign of being hit, i was thinking maybe a factory fault? someone putting it together bumped it and bent it and just put it in anyway. EOSS ( end of shift special)

Extractors are on order should be next week i hope? are there any options out there to change the cats, but still have the sensors in the right place, like a off the shelf item which bolts up to new catback and the extractors,

Cheers chris

Update

I have started my audio install and first thing to do was get some edead on my doors,

i used edead as it has had some postive remarks on this site and dynamat is just so expensive,

first i took off the old plastic door cover and mark which holes needed to remain to put the door back on.

http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e89/agrocm/IMG_8304.jpg
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e89/agrocm/IMG_8306.jpg
Than i covered all the large voids in the door so when i put a final layer on or maybe two,

These larger holes would have 1 more layer than the rest
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e89/agrocm/IMG_8305.jpg

Than starting at the top of the door i laided the edead down ,
not forgetting the cut the holes for door and speakers,
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e89/agrocm/IMG_8307.jpg

Than it started to rain so i had to cut it short and put everything back together only missing one small section in the top left hand corner this wont be hard to patch up when my speakers come.

Theres plenty left so i think i will do another layer,

The sound difference even with just the edead is so much clearer and has more bass,

i will post a video up later of me crossing from left to right on the balance and u can here the difference,

Also got my ute back from a service and they activated the rear speakers in my ute , so for all those people out there, it can be done ,

Im on a good relation with my dealer, so he does alot of work for me free,

So everything is there, except the speakers, and they would need to simply be activated? :) sounds pretty good to me, Id just get a set of standard rear ones and put them behind the seats, maybe integrate them into the back wall or ontop of the two lumps behind the seats too.

Got a few pictures of the hsv front lights i put in today .

the fog lights pluged in but the driving lights needed to be wired up with a relay to run them off the high beams

It would seem hsv shop at your local repco dealer. I went there to buy plugs to hook up the driving lights just a male and female and turned out that the one i got plugs into the hsv lights.

So i made the plug up and made a wiring loom .

The driving lights in the hsv are good but i think the fog lights could be improved. the spread on the foggies isnt as good i thought .

As for fitting them in the old bar i dont think you could do it after taking the old ones out and putting these in completly different,

May be keep a bit quite till the 18th of october at the dyno day down canberra.

BTA OTR CAI
MACE intake spacers
PACCIES
KPM 2 1/2 inch system
FULL tune i hope to see a bit shy under 200 rwkw

Talking to ALI about a cam regrind aswell, which with the variable cam timing in these i should be able to crack 200 easy,
Also considering porting the intake TB and heads, and going to get high flow cats put on next week

Roonstain got 153.1 rwkw out of a 180 alloytec with only mods being a SV6 dual exhaust the BTA OTR and a tune .

Stock 5.7s (depending on model) are typically 170s to 190s (ignoring freaks) on a dyno that is not off its face happy. Even stock VE A6 V8s would normally be struggling to reach 215 (have seen plenty of M6s that have though, and a fair bit higher).

05-10-2008, 01:23 AM
i got extractors on friday - just the paccies - the blues!
they didnt change the sound greatly (can coast around quieter now, and has a slightly deeper sound), but the main difference is i can feel torque pick up, off the line, but especially in 2nd (on my A4)

when i put on the intake insulators, hopefully they'll help with too much heat, but as ali may have told ya, they seem to just get better the hotter they get (when we were doing the final runs of mine on the dyno, the numbers just kept climbing, it defies logic!)
i may pop in and see ali bout a touch up tune to suit the extractors and mufflers (good chance to talk about the cams perhaps?)

so did you end up with a fibreglass otr?
i must say i like the one i got (i looked inside it properly on thursday when i took it out to give the filter a clean (the was a dead baby spider in it!!!)

when you come down the gong, give me a yell (prob exchange details at the dyno day aye) - but remember, our figures were taken on different days - so who knows what happens when they run on the same day down at gentech - you might slaughter me! (i hope not, haha!)

Yeah and the price of the 22's was rrp not the deal i got on these 20's as they had been there for a while and i know the guy who works there.

also might have had issues with the car being so low i recon it would rub the guards , and than the cost of tires. it all added up in favour of the 20's ,

i might get them put on early if i make a trip up tp penrith from lithgow but it might be easier just to drive up when im heading that way

Nothing wrong with the stock mags! in the end is your car mate you do whatever you want to it :). Don't get too hyped up about a dyno figure 200rwkw is a very far stretch for N/A. Just be optimistic about it, every dyno is different wether it a happy dyno or whatnot, it's the way the car drives and feels is the main point here. I read u have 150 atm? so you need 50rwkw I don't want to sound negative but that is a BIG ask from just a tune and exhaust for a V6 but that would be very impressive for a 195kW V6.

Two tone paint scheme is a very good possible choice , but sometime this week im getting the monreo gt gas shocks put in, was included in the wheel package,

And its going in to have the exhaust rattle fixed ,

Front bar will be repainted to match better when its in the panel beaters.

ripshift and tune when they update the VCM soft ware

Thinking of updating my exhuast system from:

pacemaker shorties extractors
standard cats
Kpm 2 and half inch stainless dual system

To:

dkne tuned length ve extractors
ballistic cats hi flo cats from sureflo
mid muffler to merge pipe
rear mufflers .

any thoughts or ideas on the new system

monaro327
18-02-2009, 02:59 PM
the pacemakers are tuned lenght mate. they are just made shorter to stop the check engine light coming on.

i have SS hiflow cats ion mine. wait till the tune is out it's annoying have your check engine message constantly coming up on the screen.

i have a stock sv6 system with a sureflo merge after the front muffler. if i did it again i'd get the merge put in front of the front muffler get the front muffler cut out and 2 large hot dogs fitted in it's place.

Them paccies shit my the system looks like it has to many angles they stop at the cats tune like 30 degrees than turn another 60 degress after the cats ,

much more flow is gained from using the longer extractors with ballistic cats ,( or any after market cats) welded straight in, than hot dogs like you said, merge and than rear mufflers ,

The reason im going for a whole new system is my mate whats my old exhaust and i can just cut this one up to fit ,

I have decided on
*Dkne tuned length 3 into 1 long extractors $460 delivered
*Ballistic hi-flow cats 2.5 inch flanges $376 delivered
*Two hot dogs mid way $ ????
*Merge pipe $????
*Rear Mufflers with quad tips $????

Im going to Weld flanges on the cats and weld in the hot dogs and let SureFlo exhausts do the merge and rear section.

Hey Mate well done on all your mods.

I would like to pick your brain and ask if you know of any intake from the maf to the intake manifold for the sv6.
I installed a VCM CAI, but they did not have a intake pipe form maf.

Thanks Ryan

Hey, I got a voodoo blue Ve SV6 ute, just wandering, apart from a CAI and exhaust what other cheap mods could I do to increase performance?

Whats involved in camshaft regrinding? Also I've swapped the mufflers to stainless steel high flow (?) do I need to do the rest of the system? Was told it would be a waste of money considering how much (or not) increase I would get. Also mitty, are you gonna sell ur headers?

And anyone know where I can get a retune for one of these in victoria? Or isnt the update out yet? Its a 2008 60th anniversary mdel

monaro327

VCM themselves are in Vic mate, ring them and ask if they can tune your car.

blah! Thanks monaro, just did it.

The tune for the 2008-2009 models aren't out yet. I'm guessing they wont be out till the end of the year.

Apart from my CAI and twin rear mufflers, what else can I do that won't require an immediate retune?

Sorry for hijacking the thread, think its pointless starting my own thread till I get some recent pics.

hey guys recently picked up my maloo bar that i bought off ebay its damaged but i took it to a local panel shop and said it cant be plastic welded due to the hsv being a carbon plastic so it will need to be heated and glued and repaired that way front bar repainted for 350 and rear bar fixed and painted for 350 not bad i thought.

also got some dodo juice gear coming for a good polish once its all been repainted but will need to get two rims repaired after scratching them ,

anyone know of some places round me that can do wheel repaires,

still for sale i have a air hammer cold air induction for ve v6 and vz v6, $100 plus shipping

BTA otr for ve v6 450 plus shipping,
