If you can afford the extra $$$ lose the box and pipe and get an OTR fitted up at the same time.

I think all you'll need to do is delete the MAF and the filter will clamp onto the pipe where the MAF currently clamps on.
Get some shielding around the filter too ... unless your objective is to suck as much hot engine bay heat into the manifold as you can.

Pretty sure those K&N's are already shielded Dave, you can see it in
the photo, the bonnet closes on the shield like a lid. I reckon he
is going to need some sort of extension on the pipe to meet the
filter, or go OTR as suggested above :)

hi mate, im heading up to steve on sunday, youll be impressed...
first off before you remove the maf, on the vz's you have to add a vy iat sensor before you dissconnect the maf, because the intake temp sensor is built into it, its simple to do, just cut 2 wires of the loom and solder up the new sensor.. i can tell you the colour of wires from my mums car if you dont know, also it would be best/cheaper to source it from a wreecker as its $56 from holden witout the wiring harness/other half of plug, a wrecker would only be about $20,
Also just use some plumbing pvc pipe the same size and length as the maf sensor with a coat of paint and it will be fine

Hmm ... indeed you're correct Rod. Props to Mr paying attention here for not paying enough attention. :slap:
Angelo ... if you can find the coin, get the OTR, especially if it's one of Dus's that OZTRACK sells.
If not and you decide to stick with the K&N drinking straw ... measure the distance from the end of the rigid intake tube to the filter shield and try to get some silicon joiner in a matching length.

New car dude?:smilesandbanana:
Didnt you once have a VY V6?
Cant really help on the pipe as Im not sure what diameter they are. Maybe try the local auto store and see if there is a different part number for a maf and mafless charger kit and order the missing part?
Or a silicon joiner like most used with OTRs would be the go and clamp it onto the pipes. Oztrack might even have some in stock

For the time being you can just leave the maf right where it is. Steve can tune it maffless with it still there and your IAT will still work.

If you are just after a plug for the sensor from a wrecker, the IAT sensor plug off a VS 5L also works :)

Does otr = over the radiator?

Yes. Draws air in from above the radiator.
