Howdy and nice project... First place I would try would be the Chevrolet car club of Victoria.. Talk to some members in the club and I am sure you will get pointed in the right direction.. cheers.

Wayne Barber up here in QLD wrecks those old girls - he was a great help with my '63 409 'pala.

Google Late Great Chevys in the States, and there's a pre-70 wrecking yard site in my Favs in the old computer I'll try to post for you.

Nice car, miss mine heaps.

Also talk to Drysdale Auto Books - he tracked down a '63 assembly line manual for me as well as service manuals

Try finding Knudsons in Gila Bend Arizona. Met the old bloke years ago (now deceased) he had a wrecking yard over there, think his son still runs it. Had heaps of the old stuff.

Just a thought, Maloo - if your car needs a few panels, it might be worth bringing in a complete car with the Aussie $ so strong.

Four doors are parts cars over there, and I was offered a pillarless sedan with a 327, glide and aftermarket under dash air con for $750. I toyed with the idea of bringing in a '63 wagon to chop down into a ute, but never got around to it and bought a '61 Cad instead. The Canadian RHD '61 to '64s used the '61 Pontiac dash and the American dash is a pain to convert.

Front disc brake kits are kiddy stuff to put in and really transform the braking. I had a '68 Camaro kit that bolted straight in and it pulled up so hard I hit my head on the steering wheel on the test drive and wore a semi-circular mark on my forehead for a little while...:)

Just for something different, you might want to google Mr 409 in California - this was the grandaddy of the big block Chevs, and was a little bit obselete in a short time (Mark V 396/454 big block we all know and love debuted halfway through the '65 model year), but nothing, and I mean nothing gives you a buzz like slamming a Hurst shifter through the gates with a bellowing 409 up front :smilesandbanana: mine was a tripower carb set up and even though a dual quad wouldve gone harder, Ive experienced nothing like it ever since - I had a chain from a head bolt on the pass side head down to the chassis rail and I snapped it clean off racing a '66 GTO at the Toowoomba swap meet a few years back.

Anyway  if you don't want to go hardcore they look great slammed with a set of billets and faultless paint & chrome, and they never fail to turn heads.

Good score, half your luck :bawl:

PM me if I can help
