It could be blocked fuel filter or worn fuel pump, even blocked or dirty injectors, if your problem is actually running out of fuel.
Who told you it is running out of fuel?
I wonder if it could it be something electrical breaking down? (Plug leads, coils, spark plugs etc?)
I had a car a few years ago which always stopped reving and died at about 4600rpm, problem turned out to be a faulty tacho!
I think you need to take it to a tuner and get them to check out what the problem is. :)

Are there any reputable tuners up there? That's the sort of thing that's probably good to get someone to log as part of the identification and rectification process if not already done.

Be very careful with it as that's the sort of thing that could result at some point in motor go boom..... :bawl:

Drop in to San Mateo Performance and get Dale to have a look at it for you.

When does that happen? If during acceleration whilst overtaking it's unlikely to be anti abuse mode.

Last time we saw that in Willems shop it was a 90% dead fuel pump. VT makes it more likely.
