I was just looking over my time slips and was wondering why the mph had dropped from 117 mph to 114 mph when i remembered i had removed the K & N Air filter from the OTR. May be wishfull thinking but would it be possible the air filter actually reduces turbulence and helps correct air flow hence why i actually lost mph after i had removed it? Anybody experienced this?

Louie,
I very much doubt this is a significant difference.
Have a look at say, your last 5 runs. Compare your speed, and see what the spread is. Does 3mph seem like much compared to this?

You're the only person I've ever heard of losing mph when taking out the filter. Normally you gain 1-2mph. What OTR do you have? Are your runs consistently the same mph? If you're not a drag racing pro mph can vary quite a bit, especially if you have a M6.

if you are going to heathcote to race and thats where you have lost mph then look at which lane you were in when you lost it. the right lane is known to be a little happy at times. i did 121mph a few times in that lane. not likely though.
i usually do 119mph in the right and the left around 116/117 mph.
dont stress.

It does sound odd, something to try next time i guess. 117 was in the right lane..

The left lane reads a few mph faster at WSID, keep that in mind. :)

Louie D. Is the difference in your time slips as described above. ie left to right lanes at Heathcote, because if it is then thats the norm.
Right lane often throws in a 3mph increase.

Yeah sounds like thats it, in that case i really gotta get the mph up as Im chasing the mid 11's, looks like bigger converter is the way to go (currently 3000rpm TCE)
