3.73 Gears vs 3.9 Gears? (auto)

My vx ss auto currently has 3.73 gears installed and ive been told i should have gone with the 3.9 gears as it has a 232/242 Cam which is on the large side. I would have thought those gears were more suitable for manuals? Im now thinking of going 3.9's but before i do, is it a good idea as far as street use goes and will it help the ET's?

Is yours a C.O.M.E Racing 232/ 242 112LSA? I have a 232/ 242 cam but it's from Comp. Havne't had it installed yet!

What size stall convertor do you have? I have a 3600rpm stall and 3.9's but if it hits it's limit at the track I will be changing back to 3.73's which should still be fine for it!

I just got some 4.11's installed in my un-opened SS. Cant wipe the smile off my face!

I just followed the advice from the guys that have been there/done that :)

4L60E 3.9 diff, 3000 rpm converter , M/T 26 inch radials

380 rwkw 126+mph at 7000rpm over the line.

Great gears for around town and about 2400rpm @110 kph

Mine sits on about 1800 @ 110. I guess its about 1600 @ 100.
