Has anyone got any photos of or know how the optional cargo / load rails attach in the tray of a VE ute?

I've got an SSV Ute and was hoping to be able to maybe pickup a predrilled or pretapped point that is used to install them?

I wanted to use it to mount a toolbox.

The problem you have is that the floor of the ute is not solid. Just behind where the cab starts is a composite floor which is about 3-400mm long. That composite floor covers a hollow which is about 2-300mm deep. If you lift the liner out you'll see what I mean. The rails that Holden use to fit the superbox to are bolted to the floor behind the composite floor and to the cab using a special bracket. That bracket is fitted by taking the seats out and fitting it behind the seats. So if you are planning on just bolting a box to the floor just behind the cab, then don't do it. The rails are the only safe option, even if they take someone who has done the job before around 4 plus hours to fit. I guess you could try bolting the box to the back of the cab somehow, but that wouldn't be a good idea IMO.

It's suppost to be an 8-10 hour job but i did it with a mate in 7 hours, if you have never done any fabrication before i recomend you get a professional to do it.

Thanks for the quick responses guys.

The box I want to mount isn't very heavy and I have it just strapped to the side at the moment. I should probaby add that I am not trying to make it secure - I already have a hardlid- I just want it too not slide around!

I saw the "divets" that are in the groove part of the liner where the rails holden uses for the superbox are and thought they might have something there?

Is there anything usefull under those divets at all?

Are there any other pretapped points under the tray liner?

I really appreciate the answers so far.

No the divets are only there to make it easyer to place the templates in the right spot to cut holes, there are also holes that you have to drill in the sheet metal in the tray and cab.

It would have been nice if it was as easy as drilling out the divets and sticking in some bolts but it seems its a bit hard for the designer to think of that.
