(Level 2S General Speed Event Licence)
Also gets you access to open practice track days held by the various curcuits.
Contact them directly for information
Each of the link tells you what is required of the car & you safety wise & also costs
Affiliated car clubs
http://www.cams.com.au/Content.asp?PageID=Clubs
http://www.cams.com.au/Content.asp?PageID=PaperForms CAMS member ship forms all licence levels
Also note you can hire tracks, at least calder $1600-2000 & winton $1200 (prices last heard call them direct to confirm) not sure about sandown privately, I don;t believe you need a cams licence for it nor a ambulance on standby.
Once you start doing sprints you start getting invites to other club track days & you have a choice every month of where to unleash the beast.

Grassy and I tried to get Phillip Island and Sandown but unless you have public liabillty insurance ($20million worth) for your car club then forget it. They werent really interested anyhoo. But I would love to get into it.
Looking at Club Days and Hill climbs at the moment, so this thread is perfect timing .... Thks Jimmy.

Just some additional info for you people
2S (speed event) licence: $88
I've got a C4 licence and this is what the bill would be
Licence fee: $450
CAMS manual (compulsary): $44
CAMS medical (every 2 years): ~$80
To get a C3 licence you have to be a member of a CAMS affiliated car club, got to a lecture (which is free), and do an observed licence test which is either done on its own which will cost ~$150 (cost me $80 back in '98) or as a part of an advance driving corse ~$500. From there you need 5 signatures from the clerk of course in 12 months, and do 8 hours of flag marshaling to move up to a C4.
If anyone has questions on circuit racing just ask.
Also when you get a C3 licence you can do private practise at any circuit in any car (doesn't have to have a roll cage)
Eastern Creek pivate practise costs $100
Need to join an effilicated CAMS club in Melbourne.
Looking at the Holden Sporting Association / Monash Sporting car club ........ any other that can offer club days and options for other events.
..... and NO, only have a SS, so can not join the HSV/HDT car club. :bounce:
Can those interested in moving forward with this please post their intentions re preferred club.
If possible, we should try and join the same club.
Cheers
Oh, I think HSCC given it's central location (and website  )

I have emailed both holden car club & mscc regarding the amount of tracks they are running or ar associated with, (allow member's to have access to track days run by other clubs)
Email sent friday so far no responce. I think the Holden club will be the better one due to its size & i attached to the grp5 race series,
will up date with details as they come

HSCCV is involved with over 100+ events per year so I think we can accomodate
you guys without too many drama's. This includes, circuit sprints, driver training,
motorkhana's, hillclimbs, autocross, khanacross, rallies, plus static displays, social,
technical nights etc.
We have a monthly magazine which publishes the months events as the calendar
is very sensitive and dates change regularly for many reasons.
Our membership is $48.00 per year for a single member or $70.00 for a family
membership. Under 18 (junior) is $25.00.
Your group sounds interesting also - could you explain what you do? - replied to her with a quick run down :)
Cheers and if I can help further please don't hesitate to contact me.
Kind regards

on the home page you will find a flashing message
saying "become a member of HSCCV". If you click
on this it will take you to our membership form which
you can download!
Let me know if you have any problems otherwise I will
be happy to e-mail.
We have a club meeting in SOuth Melbourne this evening
which starts at 8.00pm. You are more than welcome to

Is that all it costs you to hire a track down in VIC??
The FPV - Tickford club is a Cams affiliated club, and when I booked wakefield, it was $3800ish + ambulance. it worked out about $4500.
and that is for a non speed event too.
oh and its $91 for the 2S licence - not $88
It was like $66 last year (grrr)
