Hi guys, just wondering who you go through to insure your older model cars.
Most insurers won't insure mums HX as it's over 25 y/o and even Shannons wont as it's a daily driver and it's not parked in an enclosed garage.

Also they wouldn't give her agreed value which makes it pointless if the HX's market value is under 1k and they want $500 excess.

Thanks for your help.

you never thought to just tell them it was in a locked garage, they rip us off se we should rip them off

If you are going to bend the truth you need to be able to back it up. ie, if the op doesn't have a garage it will be easy to be caught out if he says they park in a garage. If the op has a garage and another car/junk is in there then you can get away with it.

Not sure how much help this is but in NSW we got comprehensive insurance on a $2000 HJ ute with 19y.o. girl driver for just over $200. This was thru GIO on a "vintage and veteran" policy. Same deal as normal comprehensive (no milage restrictions etc) but the car must be 30+ y.o.
Give your insurance co another try on that basis.

Get in touch with an insurance broker who should be able to find someone for you. Make sure you read the PDS before signing with your hard earned cash.
