Looking for options on buying a bike 15k< .

have open qld Licence so size isnt a problem.

with rising fuel prices the SS is starting to drink more and more fuel, time to take the crouch rocket to work and leave the LS2 for weekends.

Err, sports, super sports, naked, sport touring, cruiser, enduro, what type of bike do you want?

If you just want one as a commuter you're better off looking at a naked bike or sport

I had a "kinda fast" bike once. Nice!

Go around the bike shops near you and take a look at what you like. If this is your first bike but you want something with a bit of kick to get to and from work, go a trail bike with some semi road tyres on it. Harder to get into too much trouble on one as they are a little more forgiving than a quick jap road bike.

This is one example

Its a 2007 690 SUPERMOTO and this one is for sale at $11000

What kind of experience do you have?

I have a modified ZX12R with 174rwhp, but it's not for beginners

For a commuter I'd honestly recommend a 250... I have a 250 for general commuting duties and the ZX12R is my toy. The 250 is great, 15lt of fuel lsts me a fortnight and it's GREAT fun.... tyres are cheap, insurance is cheap, etc.

Failing that something a bit bigger like an SV650 is a spectacular bike, also suited to commuting is a CB900 but maybe a touch wide with those handlebars if you plan on lane splitting (which incidentally the fuzz are cracking down on a lot now).

I wouldn't buy a sportsbike if it's going to be used most of the time for commuting. Everything is more expensive, and there's nothing a high-performance sportsbike can do that something more modest can't.

Sometimes I enjoy riding the 250 more than the 12R, because I can actually RIDE it, rather than tiptoe around trying not to get booked every time I give it quarter-throttle.

I'm toying with the idea of getting rid of my Ducati S4 Monster:

Nice 4 valve 916 engine not the puny air cooled 2 valve jobs. Keep you on the back wheel all day long if you like.

Carbon fibre up the ying-yang, nice loud pipes (saves lives doncha know) 42000 kays (just had the big 40000 kay service) goes like stink, plenty of spares and costs $11 a week to fill up and take me to and from work.

I reckon around $12000 would see me part with it. I'm up the road in Cairns.

If I smashed up my ZZR tomorrow and I couldn't find a decent second hand ZZR1100 to replace it with, I would probably choose a VFR800. Good all-rounder (and sound hawt with a decent pipe on them too).

Apparently the 2007 CBR1000RR Fireblades are running out pretty cheap at the moment. I know of someone that got one for $14 k on road.

.

I'd go with what he said, I had and SV650 as my first roady and it was great. Souded tough with a pipe on it, went ok, was comfortable for commuting, and you didnt have to ring its neck like a 250. They're under 10 new I think which will leave you with plenty of change for gear/mods

Blackbird
VFR800
VTR1000

or something less powerful

Kawaski ER6F (Ninja 650)

or even a Suzuki Bandit 1250 with ABS is less than 15k

A good second hand Bussa , plenty of grunt , comfortable and quick enough for most . They aren't too bad on fuel either , rear tyres can be a problem if your heavy with the throttle .

The 99 fireblade i had was easy to ride and trouble free .

Have ya found yourself a bike yet mate?? If not how does a CBR1000 (07)
Only has 500kms on the clock still needs it's first service.
By far the best bike I have ever owned hands down turns, hammers and looks horn (Black) the only way to go. Still plenty of reg left and you get free entry to Honda's Riders Club for a year, not a bad thing track days and you can test out there new bikes ect ect.

I really dont want to sell it I love it to death but sometimes you have to do what you have to do. First to see will buy believe me. It's MINT!!

$13000 and it's yours I paid $15100 on the road 2 months ago.

Cheers Nath
