Hi all,
I was installing Pacemaker PH5061’s into my Super 6 powered WH this afternoon and all has gone well with the passenger side :dancenana:.... but, the driver’s side has an issue :banghead:. When I removed the O2 sensor from the factory pipe, it appears as if it hasn’t been threaded correctly. Unfortunately, I thought that the thread would come good when I installed it into the extractor, but I was wrong. As careful as I was, I have stripped the first portion on the thread in the extractor and now cannot get the sensor to bite .
I have since fixed the thread on the sensor but the extractor is my problem!
Does anyone happen to know the specs of the thread in the exhaust for the O2 sensor? – it appears to be a UNC thread and my verniers applied to the O2 sensor show 18mm’s but this isn’t really much help and I am from the Metric age so I don’t understand quarters, halves etc as far as size goes. I do not know if the LS1's ect and my Super 6 all utilise the same sensor. If anyone knows this may help me to source a 'Tap'.
I went down to Trade Tools and the only Tap Set, which was SAE mind you, which contained a Tap even close to this size, was $199 .
Does anyone have an idea of another bolt etc on the car which may be the same size which I might be able to use to ‘tap’ the thread?
Also, if my only solution is to tap the thread, anyone have any idea who may sell Taps separately as I really only need the one for this application? (I'm in Brisbane)
If the driver’s side header wasn’t so difficult to install (gently install my ar&e {as per instructions}… rubber mallet and brute force more like it), I would simply take the header to an engineer, but unfortunately I am stranded in the driveway.
If anyone has possible solution/s etc please feel free to comment…
Thank you one and all.
