Was wondering about introducing some very slight negative camber to my front wheels,
and was wondering about the pro's and con's ??

Will need to have front guards rolled to stop tyre scraping after bigger rims / tyres were fitted
and feel that some neg camber would also help.

Hey Tron,

Most holden commodores run a slight negative camber in the front. From memory its only like .05 or something. Take it to your local tyre centre and ask them to check what the current camber is as a starting point.

If you run a to agressive negative camber you will scrub out the inside edge of the tyre. I am not sure off other con's maybe enhance tracking of the front wheels on poor road conditions.

Only pro I can think of is if you do alot of hard cornering or track days then it will help maintain maximum tyre foot print on the tyre that is loaded going into a corner.

Not able to provide advice about rolling the guards etc.

There are probably heaps of other things but my knowledge is limited.. :)

Cheers,
Phil

If your wheels are that big any neg cambe will result in you rubbing up the strut on the inside.... No you are gonna say that you have heaps of space. That means you have the wrong offset wheel.

i added as much as possible to my stock struts dont know the numbers of it but god did it make a huge difference to handling and grip on fast conering.
i highlg reccomend doing it, same tyres that have had the camber have been on for about 15,000kms and if anything at all there might be 1/3 mm worn more on the inners, you have to think about when normal camer is added when conering the tyres will wear more on the outer edge but even across the whole at straight driving and when adding more negative it will wear more on the straight and less on the inner/outer on corners because the tyre will be flat on the road.
and ive done a hard 15,000kms i cut corners and roundabouts all day long, also i put the rears on a few thou kms before and there got about 45% left on them because they dont roll over as much as the fronts on cornering so the camber on them just chews the inners out real quick

Some front camber between 0.7 and 0.4degrees makes a good change, handling/wear tear compromise for the street :)

Thanx guys.
I should have mentioned that I'm running 245/35ZR19's.
And TIR33D you're right about there not being much space against the struts.
Can't even get my little finger in there, so around 0.7 camber might be the max.
No worries because the guys that installed the new rims also do guard rolling and front wheel alignment.
They had to roll the rears anyway. Did an excellent job too.
