Just been given a quote from Pedders to change the springs and drop the car 40-45mm.
It is $750 for four springs, labour and and a 4 wheel alignment.
Does this seem about right?
Cheers

Pedders charge heaps. Ive had quotes in the past and had 2 quotes within $100 of each other. They charge about $120 or $140 for a 4 wheel alignment by memory when I got them to put springs in a car once. I said there was no way I was going to pay that so took it somewhere else for the alignment, a 4 wheel alignment for $60 or $70.:)
I guess they have overheads but thats a lot.

i only brought a set of kings last week and i think they wer $150 for front and 140 for rear diddnt need bump stops and fitted them myself then a wheel alignment at bob janes was $66 completed for $356 so i would think that the price you were quoted is fair it took me 5 hours to do all 4 alone

It certainly pays if you can do it yourself or have a mate that knows how, otherwise youre at their mercy.

I just got a set of 4 Kings delivered for $270. Maybe get a set and get someone in the know to help. Alignments can be done cheaper than that too. I used to know someone at a tyrepower in Adelaide and he was telling me about their new fancy alignment machine they got and the huge amount it cost and their full alignments were only about $70 at the most. The ones Ive seen at pedders looked kinda primitive compared to this one. Labour is probably fair enough.

I have often been into Pedders for quotes and have always come out thinking  how much do you want???? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
My initial lowering with King SSL springs cost me just over $400 inc springs, labour and wheel alignment (from memory $180 for labour and alignment and about $230 for springs). They were obviously guesstimating the labour component based on previous models as when I had the short shocks put in last Friday by the same place they charged me $238 for labour and wheel alignment.
To be honest, now that they are finally available if possible you should also do the short shocks at the same time for safety. If you decide to do it later as I had to do because my car was first lowered over a year ago then you will have to pay the labour and wheel alignment cost all over again.
With the King SSL I had shortened bumpstops put in the rear a while after I had it lowered (again cost me about $100 for labour as everything has to come out again apparently) and they did contribute to reducing the thump I used to get (along with heavier duty spring wrap and cutting back the plastic shocker cover).
The Monroe short shocks come with new bumpstops.

mate I had the R8 done by pedders here in traralgon in jan 07 front went 25 mm the back went 45 mm.
$500 in total, $260 for springs, $180 labor, $60 for 4 wheel alignment,
he also checks it every 4,000 k's for tyre wear.
when our house sells he will be doing cam headers & cats for me as well

At the end of the day you get what you pay for 60 wheel alignment would only be a toe adjust anyway and places like bobjane dont even test drive to see if it drives good. Though if you have no rear adjustment ie no kits or caster arms they wont be doing a 4 wheel alignment only a thrust line where they line front. i much pefer the pedders springs for comfort rather then kings that are allways harsh an sagg but this is my oppinion anyway

Bob Janes charged me $380 to lower my car to any height on King Springs. It was only the springs though, and I used my previous tyre purchase to grab a free wheel alignment.

Not that far from home really. It's the then getting to work part that's a problem.
I got another quote from a different Pedders and it came in at $750 exactly as well.
