Only have 2 gripes (touch wood) with the VE, one is the "A" pillar (i think it's called that, rhs windscreen/door pillar)...and the reduction in vision looking right, the other being the rear spoiler.
Block's out 1/2 the rear window...
Dont really want to go spoiler-less and have "plug's", so would a G8 spoiler fit the current holes?
Cheer's for any feedback or suggestions.
Apart from that...Lurve me car.

Redvess put a G8 spoiler on his months ago - looks good! :yup: See http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/showthread.php?p=1203939&#post1203939 for an explanation of how it fits.

only thing about the g8 spoiler is you will still have two holes left unused - so grommets are still needed!

yeah i fitted one months ago as Wonky said (thanks for putting up the link) the G8 spoiler fits into 2 of the holes of the standard spoiler but you still have to plug up the other 2 but it doesnt look as bad as 4 heres some close up pics of the plugs

Cheer's for the replies guy's.
Thank's for posting the link's/pic's..Car look's great redvess
I'd rather no plug's...Less thing's for the ferals to pinch.(already on to my 3rd aerial, this one is loctited on, shoulda ordered a bee-sting one tho)
Barring getting an Omega boot-lid and drilling holes, are there any other spoiler's that might fit?

That's ridiculous when the G8/Calais-V spoiler is only $200 or so to buy unpainted and probably what, $200 max to get painted? Hopefully (much?) less!
I have also been told from a number of sources that the Senator one won't fit because the HSV taillight sections are different.

cmon wonks, you mustve read the thread that grommz started
and look at the photos that i posted of the senator that is in my garage
look at the last page of that thread, and you'll see the light cover is flush with the boot, same as the light in holdens are flush with the boot - the spoiler is raised.
i do agree that the 1017 price tag is stupid, but im gonna go on a search like i did for all the parts on my car, and get one at a good price...somehow, haha (took me 6 months for the taillights and covers, but saved $3K on that purchase alone!)

I hadn't read it for a few days as it didn't seem to be going anywhere on the crucial point. I'm still not 100% convinced but even if I was I'd have problems justifying the significant extra cost of the Senator spoiler over the G8 one, even though it is a better looking one.

cost me $205 to buy my G8 lip spoiler....
$100 to paint it by proper panel beater....
$305 over $1017....
$712 difference...easy decision
$700 paid for my front and rear sway bars instead :D

I want a senator rear as well. So if you find out where and how let me know.
Can someone do a photoshop shot of a regular VE with the Senator rear for us to view?
What about if a company acctually were to make a spoiler senator style to sell does anyone recon there would acctually be much of a market for them??

I was looking on the Holden Website at the V6 Caprice (LOL), but under the accessories, it has a "Boot Lip Spoiler" has anyone looked at the comparison between fitting one of these (had RRP of $220) vs a G8/Senator?

Sorry to drag up an old thread....
But those who have fitted a series one boot lip spoiler, how have you mounted it? Did you drill all 7 holes (2 bolts and 5 clips) or use tape and urethane and just two bolts?

I used the two existing holes on either side for bolting the spoiler on, and the middle section I just used automotive double sided tape to holed it down.

Like dcv1nu, two holes and double sided tape. If you have a look at the g8 spoiler you can actually see some slight 'guide' lines of where the tape can go. I've actually heard of guys using only tape and while it probably works I'd be more worried about some clown trying to steal it

what would be a good seller is a lip spoiler that covers the 4 holes in plastic, fibreglass sucks.
also doesn't hang so far down the back of the boot covering the badge like that jhp one

Old thread I know. But in your quote you mentioned that your taillight covers are flat for the Hsv? Well mine are raised up and not flush with the boot as you said. Is there different versions of covers or something?
Hsv covers suit senator spoiler perfectly :)
