I looked at a WH statesman LS1 the other day, really nice car and surprisingly pretty fast for it's size, it would chomp any stock Toyota Aurion in a straight line and most other non LS1 powered luxo barges as well.

I don't know much about them, but the WH model seems to have gone from 1999 to 2002, so how does it work WH series 1 (VT equivalent) WH series 2 (VX equivalent) WK (VY equivalent etc)?
The one I drove was a Nov 2000 model but I noticed the steering felt a bit like my old 99 VT it seemed to have very little feedback and felt dead on centre, also the brakes felt bad similar to my VT brakes.
The VX I had before the VT had much better brakes and slightly better feel to the steering, if series 2 WH's are "VX's" maybe they have had some upgrades in steering and brakes.

I think the WH is the best looking out of the statesmans especially the smooth rear end (like my wife:bow:) but it is a pity about the "VT dash board and guages" they really should have made it completely different like the WK which is nothing like the VY Commodore.

And one thing I can't get over is the willingness of the LS1 to rev....that's the all alloy thing I guess, I bet ford wish they had an all alloy V8 because they need one.

If anyone can help me out with my queries about WH series it would be great:) I really only prefer the WK for the new dash and guages which I absolutely adore, pity you can't retro fit the entire dash and guages out of a WK into a WH, but even if possible the cost would be not worthwhile, unfortunately at this stage WK is a bit out of my price range.

I had a wh international (2001)... The brakes were a little spongy, but remember that the car weighs a bit more than a standard one.
The steering on mine was pretty good tho, fairly responsive.
Maybe take a few more for a drive, just to be sure.

Cheers Timmay5.7, can anyone tell me how many litres the petrol tank holds in the WH, is it 75 litres like the commodores?

And one thing I want to ask is are the WK instrument clusters interchangeable with WH (I'd think not) then are they interchangeable with VY models such as Calais Berlina etc?

yeah mines 75.

I'd say your pretty much on track with the WH/VT WHII/VX time line thing.

As for the brakes, well the standard ones are pretty average. I recently chucked some DBA slotted 4000 series in mine and it made a good difference. Bout $400 all round. Put Slotted Street Series on the back.

I think you find also that if its a WH Stato or Caprice it will be the Gen3 engine(220KW). The HSV Grange came out with the LS1(250KW,255KW for S2) engine.

Not sure about the dash face lift. I've seen a WK front end on a WH though.

If you have any other questions just let them rip. plenty of barge drivers on here.

Brake pedal feel was improved with WK.

Methinks from memory the instrument surrounds are physically different in shape and won't interchange...have to check.

WHs are good buys now - I saw a '99 with an LS1 in Tungsten with 140k on the clock for $10k neat.

WH LS1's are the bargain of the century at the moment, the one I looked at was around the 11-12K mark, had factory leather, sunroof :) any better and naked girls would be running up to me at the traffic lights asking for a job:goodjob:

If.....and it's a big if Mr Rudd maintains the 2K LPG rebate these cars can have real power that doesn't sound like a kitchen appliance and still be pretty cheap to run at the end of the day, if you factor in the 2K+ which you have to add for LPG Vapour inj. conversion it's OK.

But Nr Rudd's 'gross reportable fringe benefits' reform on salary sacrifice caused my 30K a year income to be assessed as 40K and I have to pay the Ex wife 3K by June next year on top of what I already pay and I have 2 kids with me and a new wife, sorry about the thread deviation but I'm just saying that I think Rudd is out to cut what he can, where he can, so I am hoping he does not axe the 2K rebate but if he does the installers will have to bring their prices back down 50% where they were before the 2K rebate came in so maybe it will still cost the same........sorry to rave on.
