I finally got a chance to do my own little "relative" economy test on a recent trip from Canberra to Sydney and Back.
Prior to my tune the best I would get was around 9.3/9.4L/ 100 on the way to Sydney and back.
I'm happy to say that last week on the way up I managed to maintain 8.6L and even at one stage dipped to 8.5L/ 100. On the way home (uphill) I creeped up to 9.0L.
All this cruising at around 115.. and even givinig it some WOT using the freeway on ramp 0-110 test.
Mods are OTR CAI, mail order tune (MAFless) from Dan at Chipmaster. In both tests I was using a full tank of Caltex Vortex 98., myself in the car and a light load of luggage - majority of the way in 6th.
What better way to justify a tune and 6.0L V8 to the minister for War and Finance :)
