If it's part of the VT - VX range then this torrent should have it.

Hey all, I'm after a workshop manual or anything that covers the 4L65-E Auto.
I have the egay manual that covers vt to vy and the only auto covered is the early 4L60-E which has the different casing to the later 4L60's and 4L65's
I have found one in the states, but am not sure if it will be the same as the ones in the local cars. Also I don't want to wait for two weeks for it to get here
Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Does the VE one have anything on the 4L65-E box? I'm not sure on what transmissions the VE series ran.

I would love to get my hands on one of these. Although I reckon the VY II one would be pretty similar for the most part.

...true
although the VY manual I saw did NOT have Series II in it
it was pretty much the same as VX (it did have the changes that went into VX Series II)
btw...I have a VT-VX genuine CD
Is there a later update of the VY manual that covers Series II?

I agree to a point, but I am also an advocate of not getting ripped off so that someone else can make a buck... The price of these manuals is a little high for my liking....

you can get them second hand if you like or borrow from a library. If you get the ABN off the book you can do a search for the cheapest version. Anyhow when you change cars you can sell the manual on ebay and recoupe some of the cost. $50 is cheap IMO, what you save from having to take your car to the mechanic would be 50 times that.

What gearbox are you rebuilding? I downloaded a T-56 manual that would be handy if that's what your doing.. Just searched it on google and got it from an american ls1 site.

I'm going to be doing a 4L65-E Auto box. Any chance you could link me to that site?
I sent a message to pitstop and they told me their workshop manual does not cover the Auto trans rebuild, dang it!

Agree....But I've heard that Factory "hard copy" (books!) are not available at all, even for dealers, on VZ. I've heard that dealers do have DVDs to cover all models, but that they are STRICTLY dealer only, & that any dealer letting one go outside the dealer network would be in serious trouble. Maybe "Planetdavo" can enlighten us.
I'd buy the DVD if I could.
Cheers, Pickles.

Virtually every pre-VY book is discontinued these days. You have to buy a DVD. As you do with VY and VZ models.
VE is no longer supplied on disc. You have to purchase access time via a web link and your credit card.
I think smitty's books might be workshop backup books, as I've never seen them released retail.

Might be a silly question Davo, but are these dvd's availible to the public and if so at what cost?

I currently have a genuine VT book on ebay...:stick:
VT was readily available in book format a few years ago. There's not much left these days from Holden, as the $500ish disc is the option now.

Apparently it contains everything you need to know from motor/mechanical to interior, body work, diagnostics. Lots of info, but more than I was willing to spend

its not THAT exxie when you consider the last lot of paper manuals that i bought
for VR and the VS addendums...all 16 of them cost nearly $900  ...back in the 90s
and worse... the Wiring one is not normal size...its A3 size!
16 manuals take up LOT of space in my library (a disused frig in the garage) so a CD or DVD is far more convenient, takes up less space ...and is cheaper, yeah even at $440
