That is a left hand drive test mule for the US - the Camaro was almost entirely developed in Australia.

I saw the same convoy a few weeks ago in Bright. LHD Chev badged Caprice, RHD Statesman with generator on a trailer and the LHD Camaro test mule. They'd come down the Great Apline Road from Dinner Plain.

I'll try and get the pics (incl. interior) that I took with my cousin's N95 up ASAP.

Hope it is a test mule for us too.....
Me too!!! :D

Here's the pics I took at the Shell servo in Bright on Friday 8th August...

Found this on youtube tonight... Looks like it was filmed in Australia (Lang Lang and country Vic maybe).

I doubt it was filmed here, they were driving on the wrong side of the road.

I thought it was Lang Lang. It's an Aussie test mule. Can tell by the tail lights. Maybe it's when they had it at the 'Ring.

Can tell by the tail lights.

Explain.

Also, too much USA stuff in those clips for it to be anywhere else.

I pulled up next to a green one on Ferntree Gully road last week.
IMO i dont like the look of it, they look old rather than a new car.

I hope they do bring them to oz and then HSV does a version!

Explain.

Orange indicators... The American version will have dual red tail lights.

I hope they do bring them to oz and then HSV does a version!

When they come to Australia, they won't be re-badged. They'll be the Chevrolet Camaro, RS and SS. Nothing to do with HSV.

The SS should be shit loads faster than the HSVs anyway. I'm hoping by then the LS7 will be standard and the LS9 will be an option! :D

I think the problem is that we first saw this car two years ago and its still not out. It has aged without even being on the market.

Believe it or not, GM never had the intention of building a new Camaro, it was purely a concept. But the execs gave it the green light and they had to produce a production model from scratch - a job given to Holden engineers.

Some concepts are purely for show (like the Camaro intially was) and most often they are created after the production model is ready to go (like the Hyundai Genesis Coupe) to guage some market response and essentially advertise the new model.

Considering they only had two years to make a production ready model, they did pretty damn well.

Saw the convertible on Sth Eastern freeway between Foster & Toorak rd this week. He was lined up behind me on the on ramp in peak hour. If only I was one car behind in the other lane, would have loved to line it up. Very nice car. Would love to own one.

Pair of Right hookers caught @ the airport...

The made-for-America Chevrolet Camaro is almost certain to replace the homegrown Holden Monaro in Australian hearts and showrooms.

After more than a year of hints and rumours, the right-hand drive reality of the Camaro project has finally been revealed.

This pair of right-hand drive Camaro coupes was caught at Melbourne airport by a carsGuide reader, though it is unclear if they were heading out to the US or returning to their home in Australia.

I seen a Comaro on the South eastern 2 days ago in Zebra guise...............didn't look that good and sat really HIGH, which is a shame as I thought I'd like these.
Once Moded though............
Cheers.

I always thought that the Camaro would come to Aus, particularly when the CEO of Vauxhall Europe said he had been promised 1000. He's sinse said nothing more-so maybe he let the cat out of the bag. I also thought that Holden had said, a long time ago, that they would get Camaro. But, over the past year, they've refused to confirm anything. So maybe I was under the wrong impression. Maybe the dreadful state of the US car industry is creating a few chnges in direction, & rethinks, on these sorts of decisions.
There's no way that we (Aus), on our own, could justify RHD production, but if there's enough other markets wanting it in RHD, then we'll get it.
IMHO, whilst Holden have yet to confirm, I reckon it's a forgone conclusion that we'll get it.
Cheers, Pickles.
