Sorry for the stupid question, but why do you need a custom converter to run a T700 behind a LS1?
Great project BTW, looks great

which brand intake and throttle are those cause i'm thinking about doing something similar
Dave
tanka5.7
10-10-2008, 07:07 PM
edelbrock... the throttle body requires an adapter as the base is larger than the 1000cfm jobs
DCJ81
10-10-2008, 08:02 PM
so is that the edelbrock throttle body or some other brand? So what size cfm is that one?
tanka5.7
10-10-2008, 08:06 PM
yeh the throttle body is 1600cfm edelbrock, its a bit big but the engine will grow into it.:burnout:

10-10-2008, 08:11 PM

what are we talking about here in adaptors
4150 base to a 4500 flange top?
Looks apart-:goodjob:
tanka5.7
20-10-2008, 05:59 PM
that all cost me bout 1800 mainly because i went the larger throttle body and adaptor plate, you prolly do a similar setup for near half that.

its quite streetable on the stall, soon as it comes off the stall (4500rpm) it wheelspin city 1-3 gears. still needs a tune it runs rich as and the limiter is very conservative.

tanka5.7
16-12-2008, 11:52 AM
nah but basically the lower part is a hg v8 rubber mount its then bolted to the top section which is 2 8mm plates joined with with either rhs or crossed 8mm plate depending on who makes it crs and cae sell different products.

what box are you running? if stock where did you get the adaptor?
thanks for your help dude
tanka5.7
21-01-2009, 02:59 PM
mounts where around $250, high torque starter and lhs conversion was $980. i used the old t700 manualised auto i had and had to get a custom convertor which i needed any way (4500 rpm non lockup) which was $1100 delivered from tce.
you will have to decide whether to use cae headers or get custom ones made cae tri y's are $770
there is alot of variables in the conversion depending on how neat you want to be and what car your doin the conversion in. as in i used a vn v6 radiator and thermo fan which works fine and because i had a v8 efi fuel system it was just a case of puttin in a bosche 044 pump and malpassi adjustable fuel regulator.
i didnt go for showcar neatness with mine just functionality so if your not phased by that we can have a chat about it, also you will have to tell me what car your intending on using.
oh before i did mine i got a quote from elite fabrications in richmond which was around $5600 including parts as they fab all the stuff themselves.
this is mine currently...

its a vs stato atm with a v6 stroker turbo i havnt run it yet but was toying with the idea of doing a ls2 conversion as new there 4500. i have a v6 4l60e would it mate up to the ls2 with the convertor mod you did or will i have to change box?
this is my engine bay atm

GTO-LS1
21-01-2009, 04:10 PM
so ill need
v8 k frame
engine mounts
starter relocator with starter
v8 box t700?
wiring
tailshaft?
did your tailshaft fit perfectly or did you mod it? and how much was the wiring from provk?
Thanks for your help
tanka5.7
21-01-2009, 04:27 PM
wiring i think was like 250 odd to mod my loom. with the trans you gotta think about wot your goin to use the car for, if its goin to be abused with not much highway use go a t400 if not a v8 4l60e will bolt straight up and will be fine i used the t700 cause i had it and was still working fine. dont need a tailshaft or anything for the 4 speeds
the security/ bcm link also needs to be removed from your pcm.
im looking to sell my complete injection setup then my loom and pcm if anyone is interested
