haven't done this mod myself but from what i hear and going by the mods you have i don't think you'll see a large gain from a larger throttle body, i'd spend the money else where..got a ripshift?? assuming your cars manual

Will give you a small gain with a bigger TB, any gain is a good gain in my book, will be fitting a 85mm Tb to mine soon, plus a OTR and mafless tune !

The bigger throttlebody won't do a great deal for a stock-ish car. Even on a cammed car the gains are very small. If anything, the best thing about the bigger throttle is much better throttle response. To be honest, for $600+, you could spend the money elsewhere - put it towards new diff gears instead.

If you do go for the throttlebody, then there is no point in going bigger than 78mm on a stock manifold, because the hole in the manifold is only 78mm in diameter.

yeah its manual and i have heard some good things about the rip shift might have to add it to the list hahaha.

but would also have to agree with vyls1berlina that any gain is a good gain.

Don't buy the Ripshift, buy the Billet Specialties shifter - better made, better feel.... wish I had bought one instead of the Ripshift....

mate save the $600 on a bigger t/b, the money would be better spent elsewhere at this point in time. If you want to do something to it DUS ports them out and does a damn good job at it, I did notice a bit more crisp response but by no means have done back to back testing.

Looking at your signature i says you drive a vy clubby. If this is the case then the HSV tb is a great one I wouldn't be changing it in a hurry.

I don't think the VY Clubby came out with the Red annodized HSV TB JB, I could be wrong though............is this the one your referring to?
Cheers.

I found good results with a 80mm power throttle body off ebay.

Was a good product and easy fit and should work well with otr and mafless tune you are planning.

Inlet manifold is only 74mm. Maximum it can be ported to is 76.5mm.

thanks for the input guys

but i think i will just go with the otrcai for now as i now see that there isnt much point in upgrading the t/b.

JB

The clubbie hsv range did not come with the 78mm t/b red anodized one.
These t/b only came on the gts models. The holden and hsv clubbie and r8 t/b are the same.

did you have to get a retune after installing the 80mm TB??
