Hi guys, Pretty green to ls1.com but i have a few questions that i couldn't find answers to.

I'm being given a Nissan Pulsar Hatchback 1997 with only 25,000km's on it from my grandma as she doesn't use it anymore. Trouble is it's registered in QLD and im in NSW.

I'll be flying up soon and driving it back but the plan is to sell it ASAP when i get it home because im desperate for my first "decent" car, a 2003-4 VYII S Ute. I'm only recently on my P's so i have to stick to 6 cylinders which will be strange after driving 8's around the farm for half my life.

So i have a few options. Either i get it re registered in NSW and cancel the QLD rego or i sell it as is for less $$$. What are your thoughts?

Also if i am to re-rego it I'm not entirely clear on what i need and refunds on existing rego etc.

Any advice would be tops. Cheers

If you ring up any place that does those green slips or whatever it is you guys have over there they'll be able to point you in the right direction. I'd imagine it's just have to pass an inspection and that'd be it :) (besides paying for the rego...)

if you intend on registering it in NSW, then you need to pass a blue slip. The NSW RTA website has a list of Blue Slip providers. You will need a receipt to prove ownership of the vehicle, a copy of the old registration papers and book in for the blue slip. I would keep the car registered in Qld if it has less than 2 months rego and keep it for that time, then transfer the rego over once it runs out before selling it. The NSW rego including the blue slip, then getting the greenslip for insurance after it passes the blueslip, then the visit to the RTA for new numberplates and rego paid should cost you around $800 if registered in your name.

The N15 hatchback and sedan are selling for around $3K to $8K, take into account the low kilometres, it should fetch around $7K easily despite being 12 years old. Most 96/97 Pulsars are fetching around $4K. On the reare chance she owns a SSS, then it would be a gold mine your sitting on

Thanks guys, looks like im going up in a couple of weeks and I'll cancel the rego up there to get the refund and get a permit to drive home and then go through the whole process of re-registering it :vpo:

Does anybody think that a QLD registered car would put them off the sale if it was being sold in NSW?....saves me going through it all :)

Would be better for her to sell it up there, and then give you the money, but maybe she doesnt know that you are going to flog it off as soon as you get it? ;)
Are you going to give back to her any of the proceeds?

Haha, I think she has the thought that i will love and cherish the pulsar for many years to come......:spew:

So keeping that in mind i don't believe i will be passing on any money :). Besides, in the first place she wanted me to buy it for $2000 from her. lol

I would love to sell it up there but that's a bit hard when I'm here and she wouldn't want anything to do with it.

I spose ill give it a crack at selling with QLD rego and if there’s no interest I'll go through the process
