Hi All,
After 2 1/2 years of owning a Holden Monaro CV8-Z (6spd, Fusion) with 0 mods I'm pretty confident the power bug has well and truely bitten so I'm now in need of a little bit more power.
There's alot of talk of the LS1turbo.com.au Gen-TT/TTR/Single Turbo kits about with stock LS1 powered holdens and making decent, reliable power.
I'm just wondering if theres any of you out there that could inform me on how these kits really do go? I guess my main concern is the whole reliability factor of these kits on an internally stock VZ 5.7 litre LS1 engine.
Also in regards to pricing, The Gen-TT/T kit now sells for $5995 which is awesome, though in saying that; On average how much do workshops charge for the full installation (drivein-out) price on one of these kits?
I'd imagine the following would be required if I chose to take on this kit.
Gen-TT Kit - $5995.00
Workshop price of fit - $$??
Valve Springs - $$??
Aftermarket clutch - $$??
Aftermarket exhaust suitable to the Gen-TT application - $$??
Would the stock LS1 VZ injectors and fuel system make do?
If anybody can help with these questions it would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers in advance :)
- Rob.

You'll get bombarded with peoples opinions, but the best thing to do is talk to Martin and WA Performance and see what they have to say. Organise a drive in one and go from there.
Gen-TT Kit - $5995.00
Workshop price of fit - $2k ish
Valve Springs - $800 fitted
Aftermarket clutch - $1600 (but that can wait til the stock one dies)
Aftermarket exhaust suitable to the Gen-TT application - $1000 - $2500 depending what you want
Good luck

I just went same route,
-ttr bb (garrett turbos)
-Injectors, valve springs, computer tune, 2 bar sensor.
-mini pro fuel system
-turbo timer , battery relocation into boot
-3" twin exhaust
-ceramic coating of exhaust and turbo manifolds
-p/s cooler and rehose
Cost so far is about $11,400. Athough I did all the fitting (bar exhaust). Also I have not done clutch yet.
You will not be dissapointed with the results, awesome.:)

Sorry to steal the lime light here, but I have been tossing up wether to go with an ASE/ GENT1000 kit on my car. But, It's done 120,000kms now. Is this taking a bit of a dive in regards to risking some serious engine damage?
I have had the car since 90,000kms (just under 2 years now) and I change the oil every 3 months and the service book has a good service history from the previous owner, so I'd hope the engine is in pretty good condition!

Valve Springs - $800 fitted
Aftermarket clutch - $1600
Good luck
Are they normal prices? I thought decent springs and a Z Grip was a little more than that fitted.

Plenty of these floating around second hand mate, seems to be more people taking them off cars than putting them on:confused:

$800 for valve springs what are they gold plated?
Z grip fitted would be more like $2000 with braided line

$800 for the springs and labor from memory...
Pretty sure my X grip was about $1600. Z grip was more expensive.

Rob,
If you do nothing else ... go talk to Dan @ Chipmaster in WA about what you want and how much you're prepared to spend.
FWIW ... I thought turbos on V8 road cars in WA was a big no no?
That might be worth looking into and considering before you go any further with the TT idea. :)
Food for thought ... "Affordable" on initial appearence doesn't always = acutally affordable in the long run. Have you noticed posts on LS1 indicating the removal and sale of a number of these TT kits recently?
Worth thinking about. ;)

If you want truly bullet-proof, rock-solid reliable big power there really are only a few options: forced induction on an engine designed for it or a stroker.

Cam stroker package  goes great and sounds the best imo

Cheers all for the quick honest responses in here and PM
I'm actually quite stumped on what to do at this stage heh...
Gen TT/T-1000 kit seems like an awesome bit of gear.. I dont even know if I'm going to go forced induction at this stage, costs do start to creep quite up there as I like to do things properly the first time!
Decisions decisions!
