well thought i would pass this bit of info on as i found out the hard way.

the VE seem to use a mini two pronged fuse that is in house to Holden and not available anywhere else but your holden dealer.

i had one blow on my low beam on one side of the car and the high beam on the otherside...there was one spare 10A fuse in the box at the engine bay so managed to recover one of my lights.

searched high and low on saturday to every auto shop i know off and no one had it.

found out this morning at the dealer that the fuses are in house and can only bought from holden...so i ordered 6 of every one for spares.

something simple can be such a pain in the ass in situations like these.

Will put up pics of the difference of them.

Cheers mate handy info. Did you work out why the fuse went, short to ground somewhere in the car or voltage surge? Maybe worth getting checked out by an Auto leccy

the diagram under the lid says LT LOW BEAM and RT LOW BEAM are supposed to be 10/20A.....but only 10A fuses are in there
and i havent changed or even opened that thing before this weekend...so either fcuked up at the plant with wrong fuses or the diagram is wrong:confused::confused::confused:

EDIT:
just found out mates SSV has 10A fuses in it
i am guessing 10A for the standards and 20A for the statesmans etc converted to HID...

considering i have HID i think thats why...hmmmmm
will b putting in 15A ones to make sure

Just checked my Calais V and it states 10/20A fuse and mine has 10A same as yours. You should be safe puting up to 20A fuse in as the wiring is rated to 20A. So givethe 15A a try and see how it goes.

9 times out of 10 when things fail its because we've had a play or modified something. Its always interesting how the full story comes out as info is gathered. I get it quite often as a technician. If you had of said you'd changed the lamps to HID, then the reason for the failure may have been easily solved. No harm done hope you get it sorted regardless.

Its a bugger that, if stuck you could have got ya self an old inline 3ag style holder & soldered it across the blown blade with the correct rating fuse would have tied ya over till Monday.

These fuses are pretty common in all late model cars now, just no one stocks them, not even the toyota dealership that I work at, which is quite frustrating.
I saw that one vehicle came in the other day with a standard mini fuse, (one with the legs), plugged in in place of the short mini fuse, did the job!! Not exactly a perfect fit though...
