Hi all, I'm pretty new to these forums. Just picked myself up a mint Turbine CV8R, only 44,000km (after driving it home from Sydney) to go along with my SV8 daily driver. Was wondering what the split is between the manuals and auto's for this model? Mine's the manual and I know the total production run was 350. I've heard that maybe only 80 or so were manual?

No worries. It was a private sale in Sydney and I parted with $32,990. Car's in bloody good nick, low km, garaged its whole life, hardly driven these days which was the reason for selling. I watched it for a while and its started at a higher price - around $36,000 from memory - but when they dropped it, I knew I just had to have it. So I did. :goodjob:

Good work man, they had it up for sale for months? I seen one on carsales around the same k's and asking for 38,000. But I needed to sell my ss so I ended up trading it in on my red cv8r. More k's on mine but I wanted one then and there, lol.

It's almost impossible to know. Holden never released figure on the breakup of colours or transmissions. Typically Monaros were 75% auto but it depended on who ordered what, and some colours there would have been more manuals than others. So out of 390 somewhere between 50 and 100 were likely manuals. 80 sounds about right.
I had a band tryout at a factory in Seaford a couple of years ago, which turned out to be the place that makes low-volume stuff for Holden, like HSV turtles, Adventra wheelarches and Monaro bits which they deliver painted to Holden. (They had several thousand litres of a yucky green ordered for Adventras which then got cancelled before they made any).
The owner told me my car is the rarest colour, as they delivered less than 200 sets of bumpers and skirts in Barbados for the production run in October 2003 when all Barbados Monaros and Pontiac GTOs were made. As mine is a manual it may be one of only 40-50. I've seen one other manual and a couple on carsales since I got mine in May 2004.
They actually delivered 500 sets of the Pulse Red CV8R bits, but some clowm in the factory overstacked the pallets and destroyed several hundred front bumpers the week they were due to make them, and this factory could only make and paint 60-70, so the actual number of the Series III CV8R was only just over 300 instead of the 500 they were supposed to make.

Thanks Dacious, you're a bit of a fountain of knowledge! My car was on carsales the first time I looked and it was in my possession probably 6 weeks later, so not sure how long it was up there prior to that. An older, perhaps wiser, mate of mine tried to convince me to go for the later pulse red R and damn, that is a great colour. I didn't really like the red stuff in the cabin - but you know, its horses for courses. That external colour also stands out a great deal, looking as good as it does, and erm, lets just say I'm from the 'less attention the better' school of thought...particularly with the mods I'm planning for it. :jester: Just gotta get rid of my daily!
