hey guys,

ive got a 2005 vz exec sedan. ive had it for about three months and have never been able to turn the parker lights off (while the car is on).

my headlight dial has:

off position - low beam on, parkers on, cant initiate high beams
parker position - low beam off, parkers on
on positiion - low beam on, parkers on, can initiate high beams
auto - low beam auto, parkers on, can initiate high beams

my mate has a VZ sv6 and his off position turns his parkers off to so i know its not a standard/safety thing

i was in one of the computer menus the other day and there was a screen that showed

-----------------
Parklights

on
-----------------

but i think it may have been informational only as i couldnt toggle it.

so my question is, does anyone have any idea if this is a computer option that i can disable, a bug in the VZexec or does it sound like dodgy electrics (sometimes my lights dont auto-off when i leave and lock the car - dial in on position)

*sorry if this is in the wrong forum, just noticed Technical forums

Is the car an ex- Telstra vehicle. I believe they come with this type of "feature".

i was under the belief that telstra cars have a module which is plugged in inline with the headlamp switch which turned the headlamps only on when the ignition is on. in that feature it was only headlamps, parklamps weren't on. they were switched on manually.

Cheers,

Mitch

The headlights on feature is the same with most council cars across australia. Its pretty unusual...

No, My oldboy has an ex telstra Caprice that has this feature and it has both the lowbeam and parkers on with the ignition on.

I think from memory there was an extra relay you could pull to stop it too :)

Have a search you will probably find it

http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=78867

That might help , its additional loom and a relay :)

just wondering why you consider it an "evil"? i always have my parker lights on in the day time. part of being more visible.

Many companies now have their cars set up like this. As Qld Rail cars are replaced, new ones are fitted with the park light alteration. Vehicles that travel on mine sites must have this option due to Health & Safety laws. ( I think ). :)

I have my headlights on 24/7

Makes me more visible and HIDs look good during the day haha

I leave low beams on all the time at the moment... makes the VU more intimidating with the bull bar
