Hi Everyone, After buying my VE Maloo R8 in Nov 07...I was extremely dissapointed in the 'red in your face' Speedo & Tacho, that seemed to wash together when on at night. As I had a Vy series II Maloo R8 which had an awesome dash (also white LED's). After reading a post on here about a chap called Greg (Phreddy) that does Blue Led's on VY's & VZ's, I arranged for him to do my Maloo. I got the 3 pod guages, the Speedo & Tacho all changed over to "white LED's".....The car looksabsolutly terrific at night now. A big Thank You to  Greg, extremely happy with the whole white dash lights now. Cheers.....:)

I like it. And the temp/fuel gauges now match the tach/speedo. Why didn't HSV do this to begin with???
nice pictures mr shaky hands :P
could anyone recomend someone in vic that changes dash LED's ? green never did it for me. blue or white is the gogo.
Yeah that looks much better. And im after the same question as "kpop" asked, ive been interesting in changing mine around to suit my aftermarket head unit.

Looks fantastic.
I changed my VZ SV8 lights to white similar to that, and it was 100 times better.
Im dreading the redness when i pick up my SSV next week. lol. Pity its a lease car now so i cant modify it.

Do you get much more more glare/reflections on the glass (especially tinted glass) at night? Pet hate of mine, and the reason my GPS is slightly tilted down and away. Spose you coud just dim them down hey....

Hi, would you believe there is less glare than the red led's....red was too bright....even when dimmed up fully theres no glare...cheers

Hi, $$$ that would depend on what you want done, mine was just changing 3 guage pods...& Speedo & Tacho....from red to white LED's, the rest were already white LED's. Can give you a link to the guys (Phreddy) site...cheers.:)

can the red center screen in my ssv be changed to white?
Hi, I believe so, when Phreddy pulled the facia off....underneath were a series of white LED's, which power up the centre screen (yours would be red LED's)....would be best to get in touch with him...theres a link to his website in an earlier thread...cheers:)

Hey Mix good work, I dont really like the red illumination of my gauges as well............ makes me want to race everyone :goodjob:

Red is the best IMHO. Doesn't affect night vision either.
I wish I could change the triple window display to red like say an SV6 has in its single window.

Absolutely top stuff mate. I've never been a fan of the red dash lighting on the VE's. Take note Holden, this is how they should have come from the factory!

To anyone who wants this done in Sydney, get onto ASRAUDIO, they do a great job and can also organise DIY kits if you want to save some cash and do it yourself.

Surely it wouldn't cost manufacturers that much to have the option of multicoloured LED's as standard - then you can choose which colour you want by turning a little dial.

Phreddy does this for his full time job now and even has a Tech 2 at his disposal.
He also does road trips with an Adelaide one being organised now.:goodjob:

This is an old thread, but that's cool. If it isn't too hard to change, that's the only thing that stops me from buying a VE SS, I hate the red light background.

Yeah, I was very pleased when I bought the SSV ute (MY9.5) to find the dash was now white lettering at night - big improvement over the red in my Feb/Mar 07 built SSV sedan!

I would'nt try it myself...it involves pulling dash out & guages...thats the easy bit!....but there's no way I'd try to resolder all those tiny LED's. cheers...:)

For those in Perth, Greg (aka Phreddy) has an installer over here (Ant) who can do most/all of the mods he performs over east.
I will be getting Ant to change the LEDs in my VE SS as soon as Greg has sorted out his RCA out mods, so I can get both done at the same time.

I don't actually have any details for Ant yet, as I haven't got around to these mods, but Phreddy's details are phreddy.asr@gmail.com or 0404 359 144. Let us know how it works out.
