Hi guys
Sorry to bring up another thread but found out on the weekend that my car does need a complete rebuild. Either blown a hole in a piston or bottom end bearing but needs rebuilding.
Were should i take it to get done and recommended places? There is powertourqe. anywere else also i want then to take the engine out and in etc .. drive in drive out sorta thing.
I was priced $3500 - $4000 using second hand 5000kms psitons and rods etc
Kinda thought that was a bit steep. hmmm..
Thanks alot
Rick.

The L98 is the 6L used in the current Commodores. It has the LS7 heads and revised block, etc. However I don't know enough about them with regards to whether you'll be better off keeping yours with the heads/cam or upgrading to 6L :)

Hi Torque Performance is a place u can try.
it depends on your budget really, the way i can see it u can either
- buy a second hand ls1 and transer your cam/head package over to the other engine
- get it rebuilt, the price will always reflect the parts u want installed
- he best overall option, as mentioned above, install an l98. i said to the mrs when my ls1 lets go, i will be installing a l98 and for the price its the best option.

Would it be possible for you to put your head and cam on a 6L bottom end???

Yes but why would you put heads on that are less efficient than the stock L92 Heads. L92 Heads wont fit an LS1's bore size.. Thats how big they are.

if your on the coast you can try craig down at ultra tune in cal, there doin a fair bit of perfomance work down there now and tunnin. there the only place besides powertorque who i let work on my car. good service and never had any problems from them.

Also just off the top of my head.. What else will need changing? Can i use my Pacemaker extractors? My quick shift gearbox will that all be still good? Will i b able to use my over rad air intake and throttle body?
I just got no idea what i'll be up for. I turbo'd a 4wd and there heaps and heaps of hidden costs i didnt factor in so trying to find out now haha.. :D

Understanding that you may have been given a gide of what it will cost from power torque and as with anyone that is honest and respected they are not going to under quote you only to charge you alot more.
You get what you pay for and unless you are confident enough with rebuilding your motor yourself, give it to power torque and drive out with :burnout::burnout::woohoo::woohoo::love:

I know what ya mean mate.
I dont wanna do it myself as i have no idea what to compared to doing my old car ..
I'm think at this stage is buy a 6L crate engine get a comp cam and a few other bits and sell my dart heads and cam and valve springs and all that off my LS1 to help pay for the 6L and hopefully the 6L will be alot better and faster maybe?
Just wounder how much it will cost to get 1 installed and shit.. hmm..:)
Thanks
Rick.

8000 to 10000 drive in driven out would be pretty close with a cam and tune

I cant afford that much at this stage so i'm thinking of ditching that whole idea even tho that would be the best idea if i had the extra $$ laying around.
Got a quote today $3500 for complete engine rebuild drive in drive out with new replacement parts. But i wanna go a little further and maybe get better parts in the areas that need it so going to ring tomorrow arvo.
What my question would be maybe were could i source the parts myself cheaper and just get them to install the parts i get? Rocket Industries? U.S.A?
Thanks alot
Rick.
Later on i plan to put a PWR supercharger on it aswell.

A brand new "LS1" in the crate is only $3400...just transfer your existing bits over....sell what you dont need....
Cheers
