Anyone know if I'm able to change my key battery myself????
The bloody thing has gone flat & I've only had my car 2 months....
Good thing we got 2 keys & my Hubbys works. But not mine.
I'm so not happy.... I reckon it's covered by my warranty, 'cos I know it's not cheap to order a new key....
Anyone got any ideas????

i have a VX SS,
and Both keys have worn buttons on them .
when i priced a new key , they said they cant just repair the worn buttons, i would have to by a new key ,
price was something like , $70 to 130 . i may be out a little,
Any way , i thought ..i might as well try bogdy something up.
So i cracked open the key head,
i first removed the 2 screws , and found that they only hold the Metal key shaft onto the head, they do not hold the head together, the head is pressed together useing a rubber seal and small holes were plastic pins clip into,
With a small screw driver and a little pressure the head poped open.
battery is a regular disc battery ,
i then placed a small peice of Something Something in replace of the button and put the key back together .
the only problem was it would not stay clipped together on its own , so i had to apply a little Super glue (loctite 406) good stuff by the way.
and key has been working every since,
Will upgrade to a proper key sooner or later.

I just found another website (Just Commodores ~ Thanks google) & I found this response to the same sort of question....
"I found that if you put the key in the ignition and turn the ignition on then use the buttons on the key to lock and unlock the door it will activate the key.
My key worked after doing the above."
Well I'll be buggered, it worked for me too..... That is super weird.
But I'm not complaining!!! :goodjob:
So remember that if it ever happens to you!!!
Woo Hoo!!! Good on ya....
Paying 100 bucks for a key is shocking! but as long as it works for you, why not try it! (VX SS ~ Lucky Bugga!!!)
