Well as the title states i'm writing about car thieves determined in stealing a particular car. The other morning a mate of mine was leaving for work and noticed that his pride and joy's rear passenger door window was smashed, the bonnet was ajar and both right hand side and front passenger handles were busted, at that point understandably :vpo:
He called the police and was told there was nothing they could do apart from take his details, so he went back to the car to have a better look. They had obviously tried getting in through 3 doors and given up and smashed the small window on the right rear passenger door (VR Berlina Wagon)
They've finally got in broken the ignition barrel tried to start it and found he had disconnected the battery to prevent this sort of thing. This i couldn't believe they had the guts to pop the bonnet and re-connect the battery on his front lawn only a few metres from his house. in the end they gave up without even taking a thing, cd face was removed and thrown on the floor.
The car isn't standard it has a 6 speed, supercharged ls1 in it, whether they knew that or not i don't know but they would've got a nice surprise when they popped the bonnet. The car was re-sprayed 6 months ago and now needs 3 doors either sprayed again or replaced. The car was recently featured in SC magazine whether that had anything to do with it or not i don't know but very frustrating to say the least.
Want to hear your stories has something like this happened to you or someone you know and what methods other than alarm systems do you use to prevent it. eg. kill switches, fuel switches.

Put it in the garage overnight.
I had a VL SV88 and had an RAA fitted ignition full metal jacket, etched windows, and had 2 steering locks on it when parked. Someone tried stealing it from work one day and they couldnt get to the ignition. haha.:flipoff: idiots.
I figured that if some school kids wanted to steal it, the 2 steering locks would probably deter them and if a professional wanted to steal it, he would have his work cut out for him and would have really earnt it. It worked for me.
We used to have a guy live in our street he would have a lot of friends come round and one i was puttin a stereo in the bros car on the drive a car load on his mates drove past and saw me fittin the subs and they all stared when they drove past any way 2 nights later no stereo i am sure they took it

Id say it being in the mag was why they tried to nick it, or it just being a nice older commodore... Fkn bastards should get a job, probably bludging off the dole on us too. I would just respray it even better again though...

Cut their f**king hands off then that way we know who they are and can beat them when we see them
Dirty pricks! I work hard for my stuff and these pricks are too lazy to work for it themselves so they steal other peoples belongings

Cut their f**king hands off
That sounds pretty good to me.:yup:
Sensor lights are good too but the thing is he already has them as well as a bright street light across the road, but it definitely didn't bother them.
And bad88u i totally understand they were only plates but it still frustrates you!

I've said for years that "locks only keep out honest people". Sad...but true.

Couple of years ago now mate had his VK stolen from his driveway, the thing didn't look anything special but a fairly worked 308 in it with a fair bit of good gear manulised trimatic and a 9 inch. They had to off rolled it down the driveway and then down the road as if they had of stated it it would of woken the whole nieghbour up, obviously the had seen it out at Willowbank (was running low 12s) and thought they just wanted it. F**kin pricks, should be allowed to shoot them on site.

Sensor lights work well, but as I found out a few years ago, they just placed a baseball cap over the sensor.
Lucky they made enough noise to wake me about 3am so I ran out the front and scared them off.
Got the number plate so phone call to the police followed.

Car thieves should have their hands removed!!!
Yep one each offence that gives them 2 chances to change there ways.
Or thieves in general, cut one finger off each time after 9 chances all they can do is pick there nose.
Scumbags the lot of them.:vpo:
As Seldo said locks are to keep out honest people , sometimes its better not to as it saves a lot of damage, windows ect.

Nah, take them off site before you shoot them. Blood on the driveway is a dead giveaway.
I used to leave my VL unlocked (with nothing left in it) and alarmed (motion detector inside, alarm not connected to the door switches) because I got sick of having doors repaired from screwdrivers jammed in uder the lock. It still didn't work every time, twicve more the stupid little ****ers didn't even bother to check the handle, just jammed the screwdriver through anyway.

You know what... I agree. Cut off their hands. There is no excuse for car theft (and most theft in general) and it is a despicable, dirty act from people with no respect for themselves or other people. No second chances, trial them, and then off with the hands. I personally can't see a problem with this plan.

This all makes me wonder, now i'm no expert with car alarms but i'm now questioning the factory Holden alarm fitted to my VX Calais. What are your your experiences with them are they safe? Or have you had them upgraded.
