Need to run some cables through the firewall but not sure which grommet to use. I found a vacant rubber plug near the brake fluid which i pulled off and found it backed by insulation not sure if thats the one to use?

If they r similar to the vy , vz check behind the horn on the passenger side there is a spare grommet that goes into the passenger foot well, easily accessed and quite large.
hope this helps:)

There was a thread on this a week ago... have a look around... the grommet near the master cylinder is for a clutch, that's the most convenient to use.
