thought id post up how i did seeing as it was my first time down the strip.
WH Grange, MAFless, full 2.5" exhaust, SS inductions growler CAI
Best run of the night was;
13.9@102.04
60' - 2.367
Not too bad for a big barge but at least now i can know for sure that my quoted max power on dyno sheet of 334rwhp is a little....well....far fetched. Shoulda gone much better if it really had that power.
I need some tips on launching if anyone can. I found trying to stall it up off the line was slower than just punching go pedal from idle. Would a stall convertor help much?? Don't really want to do diff gears.
Anyone else go down??? Saw a few familiar licence plates. How'd you guys do if you went?

Dont quote me but it doesnt just have to do with your power figure how quick you go mate.....depends on a million other things too.
I have 380hp an with slicks an front runners ran 12.89 an that was lauching a manual at 6500 rpm, 8th run of the night an first time at the drags.
Tourqe convertors....dunno, I manual man Search button :)
Have a search around an you will be surprised there a lot of people going quite quick with not a lot of power. See ya there next wensday for my second time ever :)

yeah i know what you mean, there was a fella with a VX SS with just mafless and exhaust + diff gears (3.9s) and he was doing high 12s. I need to practice and im sure il get faster. Not too keen on diff gears tho

Yes congrats on the 13 mate well done, there are many factors that can make you slower or faster etc etc.. the main thing is that you enjoy yourself and then it will start to fall into place...
You know my car I was right behind you one th last cruise...
Cheers

a proper OTR and a custom tune will do you wonders...
102mph isn't bad though... but its not exactly flying for your quoted power figure...
but as stated, its more than just brute power that gets these things going fast (some have run 11's with bolt on LS1's!!!)...
you say you don't want to do diff gears???
its one hell of a mod mate! and VERY worth while...
if you don't want to go too extreme a set of 3.73's will liven it up heaps without sacrificing too much highway driveability... but there's nothing wrong with 3.91's either... thats what i run and i absolutely love them... awesome gear... 2500rpm approx at 110kph... its nothing silly... makes them good for overtaking too, never will it kick back to 2nd (which is just plain annoying) unless under about 80kph...
then you could even add a little stally... 3500 or 4000 would set it nicely down the track but you'd definitely need to get yourself a set of drag radials for it as you'd have no love getting it off the line with stock road rubber....
a bolt on VX calais down here running all second hand parts picked up for under 5k total - exh, otr, mail order tune, tb, 4k yank stall, 3.73, second hand slicks and front runners - has run 12.3's...
i ran 12.900 on 19's with ex, otr, tune, 3.91's...???... adding big stall, udp, tb and drag radials see's current pb of 12.136...
the options are truely endless... you can absolutely fly with a bolt on car if you have the right money spent in the right place...
see a sponsor in your area and say - i want to run consistant 12's with bolt on's only... they will set you in the right direction

i ran a 13.6
with a Standard motor,
SS intake, High flow MAFF, and extractors and exhuast. .
dyno showed 213RWKW. not sure f it was true.
but , i think you should be doing a lot better then what i can acheive.
my $3.50 worth...
Cheers
Well done on your time mate. I was down there with a mate and saw some of your runs, the auto sounded a bit sloppy on the shifts so if you get that firmed up there mite be some time there.

good effort mate, i also have a wh with similar mods to that one but i also have 3.73 ratios and 3500 stall, i ran my car twice at the plex and got a best of 13.4 at 105mph with 182rwkw and i felt like it had more...
Get out there again tommorro night and see how ya go might be worth getting a full custom mafless tune,
let us know how it goes
good luk
ps: get some pics up of ya car man from your avatar it looks like its british racing green that would look awesome in a grange

nice work, thanks everyone else for your suggestions. i will most definitely look at getting an OTR and touch up on current MAFless. Diff gears will do wonders by the sounds of it, but i like it as a cruiser too so i will have a good think bout it. Car isn't British racing green, although i did see one before i bought mine(missed out) and it looked awesome. Mine is done in Grey storm:).
Also, would running stock wheels help at all?? (less rolling resistance possibly and a little lighter?) What are these drag radials i hear about??
Thanks
