You are asking if the Holden or Ford is better, yet your on a Holden forum..

I bet your asking the same Q on a Ford Forum too...
How many of these 'which one is better' topics must we endure... :1peek:

Before this topic gets ugly as they usualy do when F6 is mentioned....
The F6 is clearly the winner if you want bang for your buck because it has a large 6 and a blower bolted to it... Or you could always get the R8 and get some blowers bolted to that instead.... Can't beat the sound of a V8 though I prefer it over a blown 6 anyday....

Take them both for a drive, decide which one you like best, and buy it... Everyones diff, why does it matter what we all think, ur the one who's going to be driving it.. You should decide..

If i was in your position i'd buy the F6. Spend the same on the F6 as you would on a cam package on the R8, the F6 will be still ahead.

a cammed ls2 are capable of 270-300plus rwkw depending on cam size , exhaust , air intake , upd , ect ect to many variations but 290+ is a wlk in the park , use serach for some cam packages , also heads help to..good luck

This is just like walking into a gay bar and asking a pillow biter, should I turn gay or stay straight. They would have you bent over before you could say oochi mamma.

Back to the topic. The F6 for sure.

........only kidding. The R8.:)

Mate are you trying to compare an '05 typhoon to a '05 R8 or a '08 typhoon to a '05 R8?

If your talking a new typhoon then it will obviously be a better car, if your comparing '05 to '05 then go the R8 for sure, there cheap as at the moment too.:)

Anything but a Ford...

So assuming we stay in the realm of large 4 door performance cars, are you suggesting he look at a TRD aurion before an F6?

Take them for a drive Evzki - you'll know after that.

Mate go with your heart not your mind!

Yes the F6 dollar for dollar (spent on mods) will pound the R8 ... But is the V8 exhaust note important to you? Probably the main downside...

Looks wise i prefer the VZ R8, but im not the one choosing.

Best thing to do, find one of each that you like (including colour) drive them and look at each and see which makes you smile more...

In the end no matter how much power you have you want more, so dont let that be the deciding factor, choose the car that makes ya smile...

Blower/turbo, you know, one of those jiggers that goes swoooooooosha...........

I do like the T6 Fowlcans, but I'd opt for the G6ET over any other - stealth rocket. Still, out of the two mentioned, it'd be R8 for the V8 sound.

Comparing BF Falcon to VZ Commodore (because really without the body kit and badges that's what they are) I would go the R8 anyday simply for build quality if nothing else. They both look and go great on the outside but I wouldn't own a newer falcon if you paid me simply because of the build quality mate.

:yup: I concur.

if i was in your situation right now i'd be looking at how much coin i was going to have left over for mods, assuming you want to mod it and build a fast car..

I would love a cammed and turbo'd LS2 but i have no idea what a fully engineered and legal build would cost, im guessing around $12k ?? If i had that spare after the car i'd defo go the R8 - turbo V8 soundtrack FTW !!!!

if not i'd go the Phoon and chuck bigger injectors, new cat and fuel pump and custom tune for about $2k and get around 300rwkw safely..

like others have said depends on what you want, engine note or bang for ya bucks performance and how loyal you are to what the badge says..

Im looking at a similiar comparison for my next purchases. The BF FPV F6 auto seem around the mid to high 30's and they look pretty hot. They seem to have alot more wow factor than a BF XR6 turbo which look pretty average. FPV have got it pretty right with the add ons and the drive train is very impressive. Im not really into the VX's so im looking at the VE's, probably SS or SSV, which are now just a fraction cheaper than the F6. I probably prefer the look of the VE, but drive train of the F6, especially the auto. I probably will do the normal bolt on mods so the F6 is going to come out trumps there, im looking for a nice daily driver.

Hard decision so far.

it still hasn't been defined what F6 or R8 he is comparing to, but to add fuel to the discussion, Simon from XFT got his new FG F6 to 333rwkw with just dump pipe, cat and tune ONLY:

http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=48452&hl=

Stock, it pulled 280rwkw on the dyno. Build quality from what i have seen is vastly improved on the BF's but time will tell about longevity of the car. Personally i think the build quality of Ford and Holden are practically on par and neither can really be called special or worse than the other.

Can't beat the note of the V8 though...many people ask themselves "is it worth having a fast car if it doesn't have the exhaust note"

I would ask "is it worth have a car that sounds nice but is slower?"

Depends entirely what you want out of a car mate,

Either way it's a great position to be in!

I'd just go a VZ Clubsport. I hear there's one for sale with a few mods to start you off.. ie: coilovers, extractors, exhaust, wheels.. lol.

When buying mine i looked at the FPV range and i liked how easy it was to get power out of the F6 but the interior design didnt do it for me and it just felt cheap.

You do realise the OP is not referring to the new variants of each car?
