Hey guys

Minister for war and finance has given some approval for some funds :yahoo:

$3000 will be the amount. I have a WP cai already.

What I wanted to do only was lower the car and put an exhaust on it. It is a daily driver and company car.

So, for $3000, I have a few options
1. WP exhaust and WP springs and WP Door sills with change
2. WP exhaust and Kings Springs and Monroe Shocks
3. teins Coilovers and X-Force MS 2.5"

Opinions would be appreciated guys. Thanks

Do you just want to lower it or make the handling better?

Have you listened to both the WP and XForce exhausts in the same model car as yours? That is how I'd make my decision on that one :) For me SS versus MS is not really something that I consider these days, I'm happy to spend less on something in MS, specially when I have far too many expensive hobbies :)

If you just want a lower stance look for some springs and shocks (later depending on how long you intend to keep the car and if the handling with the standard height shocks is that bad). If you want stance, handling and adjustability go with the Tein.

Surely you'd want a tune in there somewhere? Win/win! More power and better economy!

You've got a few more options than that mate. :)

Daz ... AKA RedR8 or Mr Exhaust system as he is affectionately known ... has given you a much better list and that covers a greater spread of mods. It should also leave you with some change.

Depending on km the OEM shocks should be fine so I wouldn't waste good coin getting those replaced.

I guess it all comes down to what you REALLY want out of your hard earned $$$ but IMO only door sill money would be better spend elsewhere.

Keep us posted on what you decide.

He already has a CAI Daz, so even more change! :) Is your price custom dyno tune or mailorder tune?

Yeah Wonk I would but....

I guess it comes down to which is the best way to spend $3000

I could do Kings and Monroes, tune and Xforce for probably $3000 but have been reading some bad things about the new Monroes and Kings. I thought even you had 'issues' with this setup. So thought something else might be a better option. I could do the WP springs, xforce and tune no probs. The WP springs will drop the SS about 25mm and there has been no talk of needing new shocks. The Teins would be nice and for me personally they are probably overkill.

Agreed on the sills. it was only going to be a cosmetic thing if I got everything else WP

Lets face it mate you are going to spend more on the car in the future. So rather than trying to get too many things done at once why dont you invest the 3k on exhuast and tune and get the baby singing. Then at a later date you can install the teins or whichever system you want to lower her??

Just a suggestion as so many of us have installed a satisfactory item on our cars to just go and replace it kater with an ultimate item.:)

Most people would put tune and exhaust as first priority and tune even if you weren't going to do the exhaust. I am hoping my issues with the King/Monroes combination are mainly to do with a) my springs being from a batch that ended up much lower than they should have been and b) running 20x10 rims on the rear with 275 tyres.

I'm hopeful that they will be resolved when I receive the new springs Kings are sending me which will raise the rear 30mm. I think with the stock rims and tyres you'd be fine. You certainly will be OK with the WP springs (which are really Kings) given they only come down 25mm and the standard shocks should be fine at that.

I have the 20" Supersport Wonk if that makes any difference.

20" Supersport run 245 tyres all round as the 20" tyres I had on my original 20x8 rims were off a set of them. It was only when I went to 20x10 rears with 275 tyres I ran into problems, especially when the rear came down 5 to 10mm with the Monroes.

The original WP springs were Kings. I think you'll find the Eibach are only used by WP on MRC cars eg GTS and Senator.

Hey mate,
My opinion is spend the bucks on an exhaust tune and an otr if budget allows. Just a decent set of headers ie xforce without cat back will give you lots more torque and punch. Doesnt have to sound loud to get up and go.
These mods i have done to my ute and squished 270 rwkw's out of with 600 + nm . Not a huge amount of money spent but great increases and much more fun to drive .
Best of luck,

Andy.
