Hi,

I was just wondering if removing the spoiler on the Monaro is as easy as removing the 4 Bolts ?.

Or is thier more ?

Sadly there's more to it than that.

Once you remove it you then need to go and find the person that fitted the spoiler in the first place and beat them with said spolier. Only then can you consider the spoiler completely removed.

A Monaro should NEVER have a rear spoiler fitted. :yup:
:jester:

Seriously though ... the 4 bolts should basically be it BUT if there's a high level brake light fitted you'll need to unplug the loom and get it out as well so there may be an additional hole.

Good luck.

I don't know the answer to the question, but I would also like to congratulate you on removing the spoiler. Your Monaro will soon be fit to be seen in public again :)

as mentioned not as easy as pulling out the bolts.
i had it removed on a previous Monaro

and then as Marco suggested it was allowed on the road

what about the holes left behind???

good idea ditching the wing too... they look very bad on the monaro's... same as wings on utes, so wrong..

I just not sure where the actual plug is located that needs disconnecting thats all. I mean it cant be in the spoiler itself , seems to be alot of spare cable that runs under the carpet in the boot, i might just have to pull it back a bit to have a look.

The holes ill get gromets for and ive got Red tape that's the same colour as the car so that will go over the top. Don't think their is any other way ?

The other ways would be:

Patch up the holes and repaint the boot

Swap for another boot

i got panel shop to do the job for me.
So not sure on the nitty gritty of it
but i know the holes had to be plugged correctly.

and nicely filled.

Did it set you back very much ? . I assume they just fill the wholes and repaint that small section or something alike.

Well thier is no plug for the Brake light that runs into the spoiler :| GRRR. Means i have to cut it .

You'd need to re connect the centre red light in the rear window as well. Y'know, ADR's and all that stuff..............

And that's not all, there's more to it if you want to do it properly and legal like.Cars fitted with a rear wing with the leds in them, usually have the rear parcel shelf brake light area blackened out/painted over,so it's not an easy fix unfortunately. You would have to replace the rear windscreen that's got the clear piece so you can see the brake light when fitted.I've already done the costing and they're not cheap to get done. That's why most people get the holes welded or use bungs and take the risk that no one rear ends them.

Ah screw it . Not worth the risk. Just wanted to see what it would look like with no spoiler but its hardly worth the risk.

Also when u say its painted over on the back window ? its all the same tint. the whole back window . Or is that the issue ?

Meh i gotta Go into Town nxt week so ill drop into holden and see if they will change it off for me cause i really cbf doing all this lol. The back window is all the same Tint and its not any darker where the break light is , i can see it quite easily from outside the car and its not even on.

Yeah mate sorry,i meant all the same tint

Don't get me wrong though,i think if you really want to,you should remove the spoiler from the munro as they do look shit hot without them :yup: I know a couple of blokes who have removed the spoiler from there rides and have had zero issues the legality side of things....including the police!

And anyway you'd have to be farkin' blind not see the big arse brake lights we've got out the back these days.

Its off :D. Had to cut the break light and take the 4 bolts out. Thiers a bit of Goo making an outline of where the spoiler was stuck on . Ill just clean that off 2moro and when i get into town on monday go see Holden and book it in so they can re-wire the Break light and Fill the holes ( if they do that , otherwise Panel beater so they can respray that bit aswell.

oh yea. And im going out in public again wif it lol.

There really should've been a plug in your boot lid somewhere. They will have to respray your whole boot lid also.

Dam right they shouldda . But its okay just cut it in a place where i can re-connect if i ever need to .

Yea they will have to respray it but some guys in the forums already said that so thats no biggy. Just take it for a quick round nxt week. GO pannel beater get the holes filled and re-sprayed then go to holden . Get em to tape off the old wire and Connect up my Break light in the back window.

Guess it should prolly cost about 350 for panel and 150 for rewire.. Long as its not more then 700 anyway.

Congrats on taking it off, Will look ALOT better now. You shouldn't really have any drama with the rear lights, But just so you know I'm pretty sure it's actually ADR to have 3 stop lights operating if your car came out with 3 from factory.

Just keep that in mind, you car will look alot sexier now!
