I picked up my car from the panel beaters today and he mentioned that the car sometimes dosnt want to idle. I started it, had to giv it a few revs and it died. Pretty much al the way home it wouldnt idle so i had to heel toe it to a servo. It was very low on fuel. I filled up. started it and it was abit cranky but it was then ok. This has happened before when im low on petrol. or simply when im leaving a servo it just dies when i exit the driveway. Does anyone know what it could be? Is it a tune issue? the car: vz smallish cam, exhaust, tune.
Cheers
Paul.

Mine sometimes has similiar hic up but it is just telling me that the air filter needs a clean.

or if they have disconected the battery it may be working like a pcm reset and will rectify itself shortly after a bit of driving.

I would say they have had the battery disconnected which will cause this. Just drive it for a while and it should come good. Dont think it would be a tune problem.

I had to adjust the idle in my VP, the motor would just stop if I wasnt accelerating.

mine does that anytime i disconnect the battery.

as above, just drive it and itll sort itself out.

I usually engine brake when this occurs too and usually comes good within 5 mins of driving.

How would you do that when its sorted via the PCM?

there is a screw on the throttle body

there is a screw on the throttle body
This is the throttle blade stop screw, so opening this forces the the throttle butterfly to remain permanently partially open at idle. Not ideal.
Sounds like the ECU controlled IAC motor had failed, a common problem on VN-VP's, and easily fixed.

my vx does it from time to time, its when i roll start it when it has a flat battery!

this is wat i do when mine plays up,

dissconnect that battery, leave it sit for a few mins, reconnect, try to start it again, it should start first or second shot, it will idel crap to start with but give it about 30 sec and it will pick up and idel like normal.
