Got myself a CV8R recently and have been loving every minute of it. However, I jumped in it the other day and noticed that the CD player didn't start playing automatically. Hmmm, OK, I pressed the 'ON' button and sure enough, it started playing like a beauty. I then noticed that there was nothing showing on the actual CD player display. I tried the volume and it came up on the dash screen that the volume was moved. I pushed in the 'AUDIO' button and the fader, balance etc came up on the dash screen and I could change the settings, but still not a single thing was coming up on the actual CD player screen. Its still backlit, like the climate screen, but its just not showing any info. What the hell have I done!?!?!?!? Have I somehow managed to turn off the display???!?!?! Its driving me nuts...any advice/info please! :goodjob:

Hey all,
If you havnt changed the contrast at all then it sounds like a fault obviously so i would definantly go back to holden.
Best of luck,

Andy.

Try disconnecting the battery to reset everything and see how you go

Battery disconnect sound like a good suggestion, I'll give it a shot next time its out from under the cover, thanks for that. I'll be a bit :flipoff: if I have to get a new player for it. You can obviously live without it, still being able to change the settings and all, but I'd prefer it to be bloody working properly! I mean, shit, without that display, it doesn't even have a clock in it!
Nice to know I'm not alone HERCLUES

My VE Berlina (blaupunkt unit) has done this to me about three times now... almost impossible to recreate the fault for the dealer though:vpo:
Are your stereos Blaupunkts as well?

Yeh my R8 too. It appeared to still be on because if you looked into it you could barely still see the display, but there was no backlight aiding it. I would simply stop and restart the engine and the display would light up again. Could not replicate it for the dealer but it did not matter because they just replaced the whole unit anyway.

Yes they are Blaupunkts.

Tried this today, but didn't resolve the issue.

Thanks for the tip though!

Damn, HERCULES, you beat me to it! :) It doesn't seem to be that uncommon a problem. I wonder how much a new one from Holden costs?
