Not the standard ones you get from the rta but the ones you see mainly on expensive cars ferraris etc, they are normally black and white with no boarders but really small at the front. and not the single or low digit ones either. They are generaly just normal plates but completely custom.

My question is, where do you get them from? Are they completely custom made or can you buy them? i was thinking about making some plates for my ute but i think its slightly illegal.

Any info would be appreciated.

Cheers
Paul.

I may be wrong, but the styles displayed on the wall at the RTA are
the ones that are available for issue (read legal).

That is correct. I enquired about this and purchasing plates outright with the RTA about 1 month ago and got told that you can choose from the different varieties offered on the website and they definately don't sell plates outright.

Gotta love the RTA in NSW.:flipoff:

In sa your allowed up to 7 numbers or letters and it costs 240 per year.
$2400 seems a bit excessive

In Vic it's just a one off purchase price (typically $395 or $495) with no annual fee. http://www.vplates.com.au/index.php?page=plate-styles

The N.T beats all the other states hands down for custom plate affordability. When I lived in NSW there was no way in hell that I was going to pay over $300 more per year just for plates. In the N.T though its $140 as a once off payment.. That's 7 characters too.

Tell me about it.. I wanted just 3 letters (Custom! not 3 letters & 2 no's normal), so instead I just made up a plate by using all the normal letters and removing the decimal point!.. cost me only $400.00.. saved $2000 for xorst and tune....yeeup!

You Boys in the other states have got it easy. I pay $500 per year for my plates and that is only 6 letter/number combo. Now that is a rip off.......
