Looking for some help for my car, so came to the group that know.:)
Not looking for a maf vs mafless debate. I want to keep my car looking as original so I have no trouble with insurance. Is it possible to have a mafless tune with the maf sensor in place, but disconnecting it? Will the mesh inside the maf sensor cancel out the gain by a mafless tune? And if so, is there anyone running any type of tune with the mesh being cut out?
Any help is appreciated, i already searched old threads but did not find answers to my questions.

Mate what you want can be easily done for you. If you were going to do this for stealth then you would gut the MAF entirely and leave it plugged in so it poses no restriction and still looks OEM.. The tune only has to be told to fail the MAF if it reads above 1Hz. Which is generally what we do for all MAFLESS cars anyway.

Thanks mate, I know there are some legal issues with removing the maf sensor, but what about gutting it and leaving it in are there any issues with that? Also, where would you go to get it gutted? Or is that a job you have to do yourself?
Thanks mate

Mafless isn't illegal mate.. Thats an old wives tale. The simple fact is that if the car still passes emissions then it is fine. As far as gutting the MAF goes, do it your self by smashing it out with something. I've done it on the side of the road once with a mate where he decided last minute that he wanted me to tune his car MAFLESS. If you want to get fancy get a machine shop to open it up a bit with a mill.

Thanks for the help mate. I think I will smash and rip out the mesh, then get it bored out 1 mill. This way I will get the mafless tune that I always wanted. Thanks again
