Hello, Currently owning a Mitsubishi Magna and fed up with the hopeless suspension and useless transmission (replacing 3 to date) I decided to have a look at a new car, what caught my eye in a reasonable price range was the Holden VY range, the "S" badge which included SPorts Body kit and suspension appealed to me.

So a few questions I have to ask:
1. What are the Holden VY transmissions like, and would auto/manual be better considering I have the odd heavy acceleration.
2. What kind of price bracket are these cars really worth in the current market, I mean they sell for 13990 but what should I really be paying?
3. What things should I be looking for when looking at used cars in this range i.e. things that typically go wrong that owner hasn't seen.
4. Whats the major difference between VY (2003) and VYII (2004)

Thanks :)

Edit Sorry For Double Post

Personal opinion, and this one IS biased for once, but if you can afford a bit extra, grab yourself an SV6. Reason being still has the same styling (different tail lights though and slightly different spoiler, I believe the SV6 and the SS have the fins underneath and the black on top aswel) and you get a 5spd automatic/6spd manual as opposed to a 4spd automatic. Not only that but 190kw (I had mine dyno'd recently and pulled 192rwhp) on tap as opposed to 175kw. I guess it all comes down to personal taste and what a person requires but for me, I was considering a VZ S for a while and then did some research and realized that for a little bit more the SV6 was a better choice for what I wanted, its not the pretender of the 2. Either way you chose to go, they are both very visually appealing cars and I am sure you would enjoy either :D

VY still uses the emotec so it isn't 190kw. And it still uses the 4 speed auto.

Yeah ... I went back to it and re-read what I had posted, then realized it was too late to edit heh. But yes, still the emotech motor.
