How do I remove a stuck disc brake drum? I have tried to bang it a few times and sprayed some WD40 but to no avail! Do I need to purchase a pulley to remove the disc drum? I'm aware that the drum is fused (proabably due to corrosion to the axel stud) and if so what is the best solution to this issue?

Cheers,

Front or rear?

If its front hit it from the inside with a large copper hammer or similar that wont damage the rotor. If youre replacing the rotor any hammer will do.

Just make sure you leave a wheel nut on loosely so the rotor doesnt go flying.

If its rear make sure the handbrake is off and the brake shoes arent holding it on.

If hammering doesnt work you can sometimes lever them off by getting something such as a crowbar in behind it and levering it off.

Thanx for the reply in regard to the stuck rear disc drum. The handbrake was removed before I posted my problem, however, the drum is being stubborn and I don't want to damgae it, then later replace it. I will attempt your advice and determine if I need to replace the rear drum. Alternativey, I'll try various pully systems to remove the stubborn rear drum. Many thanx mate

I agree with HSVGTS215i, working around the drum with a rubber mallet or protect it with a block of wood and hammer around the circumference until she pops off...drown the nut studs in WD40 and she shoudl fly off mate

Good luck man

I had something similar happen on my VR, the brake shoes wore into the drums creating a lip that prevents the rotor from coming off. Try loosening the brake shoes before trying to pull the rotor off.

What he said. It's not enough just to slack off the cable - you will need to wind the internal adjuster wheel so that the shoes retract a bit.
