25th October 1978 Holden launched the Commodore on Australian roads.

Commodore has been Australia’s top selling passenger car for the past 12 years and is on track to maintain that position in 2008.

More than 2.5 million Commodores have been built since the first VB series sedans went into production, replacing the Kingswood as Holden’s leading family car range.

Of the early Doors the VH.
I loved my VY SS however you just can't go past the current model. The VE is a sensational vehicle.

I learnt to drive using my parents 1985 VK Berlina sedan. I used to think in those days it had reasonable power - lol @ 86kW!

My favourite model is the VB SL/E with the red exterior and all red velour interior.

I loved the VK Calais until I bought one. :bawl:

The VH SLE really impressed me when they first came out. Wow, they had a computer that did....... something? The ad on TV with the SLE sideways in the snow was cool.

But, like most of us, we all drive a new millennium Holden and it's amazing how good these cars are today. They go faster, have more power, chew less juice and are much safer. Gotta be happy with that:goodjob:

The Commodore has certainly come a long way since its beginnings as an Opel Rekord with Opel Senator front sheetmetal.

Love a clean VH. Strangely I've always wanted a VL Calais Wagon, haha. My wall poster as a kid was a VN SV5000, In green of course (I think just about every VN in its day had a fake SV grille).

My favourite is the VL. Always loved them, and that's why I've owned one for the last 5 years.:)

It's amazing how far Commodores have come from VB-VE.

One thing that makes Commodores so awesome is you can buy any model whether it's a VB or VE with a V8 from factory.

In terms of looks, I can't go past a VX SS in black - just stunning. But as a complete package of looks, engines, suspension, interior and safety, the VE is the king of the hill and the only Commodore I've ever liked enough to lay down my own money for.

But, to greater or lesser degrees, I love all Commodores :)

I had a VH blue motor 3.3, great car. VQ 5 litre was better though, and the WL 5.7 is far better. I think I would still be happy enough with the VH.

The bunky old Commodore is 25 hey... owning a HJ 350 Monaro I used to hate them, all the pretty boys in town had white VK ex pursuits done up like SS's...ah the memories.
And now I've got one!
Favorite is my VN SS Group A.

Of course a later model will nearly always be better than an older model but for its time I think the VX SS is a stand out.

I knew there was a reason I liked them... I had my 30th on the same day as the commy 30th.

I can find something about most I like... I have had 2 VH's, VL, VP, VX, V2, VZ and VS. In the earlies I preferred the VH SL/E, the VK Grp A, VL Calais... VN Group A, loved the VS SS, and the VTII SS in Tiger!

Has to be the VL for me, but I'm biased I suppose having owned one for 21 years. :)

VH SL/E shadow tones are also very classy looking machines. The VN-VZ's never did a lot for me but it seems to me with the VE they've gone back to the more original concept and I love the look of them.
