The Pontiac G8 GXP street concept (http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/01/sema-preview-638-horsepower-pontiac-g8-gxp-street-concept/).
One of the best parts about SEMA is getting to see the manufacturers build cars they might not otherwise. Take this G8 GXP Street Concept, for example. Sure, the 415-horsepower 6.2L V8 in the standard G8 GXP is plenty good enough, but why not stuff the new LSX454 crate engine from GM Performance Parts underneath the hood? The 7.4L V8 is good for a ZR1-matching 638 horsepower and 600 lb-ft torque, allowing this G8 to unashamedly call itself a true muscle car. Other features include stiffer springs and the brake package from the CTS-V as well as 20-inch black chrome wheels. The exterior has been given an aggressive makeover with a new front fascia with unique upper and lower grilles and a rear fascia that incorporates a diffuser and performance exhaust system. Inside are custom leather seats and a new gauge cluster. More details and plenty of photos are soon to come when we hit the show floor next week.

Wow! Very nice.
I was never that big a fan of the W427, but this looks so much nicer.
And with oil prices slowly coming back down, it'd be stupid not to get at least one... :jester:

I like the idea of a 7.4 Litre but the wheels and front end are :spew::spew::spew::spew:
They look they belong to a completely different car.

I would have to agree with you there... Not quite to my taste. 7.4 litres on the other hand....

Surprised no one had jumped on these motors sooner, the new generation 454's have been availabel from Eagle and others for quiet some time now, hell there are the 500+ cubers in injected form of you've got the means (and indeed the room in the ****ing engine bay, new generatino does not necessarilly mean a smaller block)

Some photos available here...

Looks like they have parked a Ute next to it, but haven't seen any full photos of it yet...
lol, the W427 is the most over-rated HSV ever produced. Anyone remember the VE GTS that had a blower fitted to it and was making something stupid like 470rwkw with 700+ nM of torque ? (feel free to correct me I dont have the mag in front of me), and then the fact that it cost about $90k TOTAL? (the price of the car and THEN the mods also). Yeah ... I think I'd prefer that than a car that is likely to be locked in a garage by some old man who wants a collectors item and actually drive the bloody thing!

To be honest I would do the same as I prefer the hp to a build number, but this does not mean everyone feels the same way. I would say the majority of people would prefer to have a complete factory car and are not interested in aftermarket modifications. And lets face it comparing it to other cars out there for the money its pretty bloody good value. Without the luxury car tax it would be unreal.

That looks nice and sounds like a tough motor under that bonnet. I like the smaller Pontiac kidneys and love the wheels BUT BUT that bottom grille set up, something not right.
