Made the trip to the 'Plex last night to test the A3 conversion. No other changes to the combo-the same 2 year old 382" Stroker with basic heads and 222@.050" cam, basic SAS cold air etc. We left the rig exactly as it was with the M6. Even still has the spare tyre in!
Went 11.83 @ 116.12 mph back to back followed by a 11.88 @ 115.97mph.:D

Getting plenty of wheel spin off the line and then on the shift into second and again into top. There was no track prep as the season is over here now. The 1.80 60' shows how tight the convertor is but it is set for the bottle not N/A.
Here is the original thread on the conversion;

we are very happy with the results seeing as we lost 8% rwkw from the auto....
Time for some serious head work and some more cam...then back to the track and finally the bottle goes on just to keep Kim happy!
He is seriously excited about his Big Bore!:nyuk: and the 436" of Cams is only weeks away-exciting LS1 times....:burnout:

Thanks guys....it has been a struggle to get the thing to what I knew it could do from day one- all the PCM issues and then the clutch! But we fixed that!:bash: Full Manual T400 mmmmm:cool: A lot of hours fitting but it always that way on the first change out....The 436 has got one too but with a brake aswell :burnout:
12.1@ 115 and change was the best with the m6 but with dodgey old slicks.....
It was great to go and do some consistent laps from one end to the other- we have an excellent baseline now to see where the changes we make take it.......the secret to all testing.:hide:
Kim is on fire- don't think I will get much sleep from here until he gets it to where we plan.:hide:
He would have to be one of the funniest fellas I have ever done work for and doing his stuff is always a pleasure....we always have a blast whether it going on a test drive, racing it or even when things don't go the way we wish. Sticks to the plan:thumbsup:
great guy:cheers:
Thanks heaps to Danny from Chipmaster- the reverse math on the speedo was interesting- and Zoomy....the sun only shines sometimes my friend:lol:
On ward and forward from here!!!!!!!

Sounds great 3 tenths improvement. You could even have thoughts of swapping your $6435 (from Holden) M6 and getting a very good T400.

Except driving it other than in a straight line is dead boring .......not to mention the high stall speed of the converter. Fine if all you do is drag - not too effective for the other 99% of the time.

spose you really wouldn't know unless you have driven it....another Sydneysider went for a lap around the block with me- I think he liked it and he is a circuit racer........
but no flame everyone to their own....... but what is the use of the 6th gear when a std LS1 won't pull it and don't tell me fuel economy because all roads are flat.......

Yes, sixth is quite pointless - the manual isn't the be all & end all - I just prefer it. If you drag, understand why a 400 would be a good option. It would send me batty on the road though. I use 6th when the raod is flat cruising on a freeway, when you hit anything other than a mild hill, to avoid more pedal being pured on & bugger all accel happening, you need to drop to 5th. Assume 'cause Holden % of manuals to autos are low, not worth getting the seppos to put a more useful set of ratios in. Assume it's designed for a Corvette - they must have a very high (no.) diff ratio !!

Bloody hell, where will the times end up 12 months from here. They just keep dropping. Very nice work, I can imagine the amount of effort to get it there. Well done.
I also didn't think about ever getting a Hi stall converter because I had never driven in one. Once I did, the funny ideas I had went away and I'm now converted(pun intended). And I'm a circuit sprint guy, so we'll have to see how it goes.

What's not to like about a stall converter, as long as it isn't a huge one, then its fine on the street.
I drive the old mans car with a 3000rpm stall and its easy to drive in normal weekend traffic.
What's a Manual anyway? Their good for standard engines and that's about it.
