Hey guys,
I was involved in a traffic accident in june, and my VY maloo ute is still off the road awaiting parts from holden. Apparently there are no RHS rear quarter panel of drivers doors in the whole of Australia, and none even pressed yet. I rang holden customer serice and complained about this and have been given a hire car at holdens expense for the last few months. I was wondering has anyone else had this drama? I can't believe there are no parts for a 2003 commodore, it just baffles me... :soap:

The problem is caused by the removal of the tooling from the Elizabeth factory and an outside company now doing the stamping for Holden of many pre VE panels. Due to the complexity of major moves like this, and the need to ramp up production to meet the backlog whilst maintaining quality, delays have occured.
These did come back into supply recently, but have obviously gone onto backorder again as they focus on clearing the backlog of other panels.
Not saying it's good, but that's the story, and no one enjoys the fallout of it...

yea don't want to be negative CHL but according to the parts list a VY rear quarter is listed as VY/VZ and there is no ETA.

Holden had about 280 of each side in stock this afternoon, and about 50 dealers had stock of each side as well...

Yes, a SIDEFRAME, less the quarter panel, are like this.
Holden are having a dispute with their supplier over the supply of these. Make sure the dealer has been asked to put one on VOR, as this is Holden's highest priority for sideframes.
We supplied a wagon one recently to a shop, which they then cut out the bits they required to get is rolling. This wont work in all cases though. Depends on where the damage is.

How much is a Passenger side quarter worth for a VY ute? Mine has a had a good hit, and think I would rather replace it...

trust me mate, just get it panel beaten. There is a serious wait list for these at the moment. I am on that VOR list and I still have no eta on the parts...

Hey mate. There were plenty available when i got mine two weeks ago. I can't remember exactly how much it was but it was definately less than $400 around the $360 mark i think incl tax. Thats trade though.

However it is the labour to fit it that will cost ya. You need to drill all the welds removal the old panel then weld the new one on plus sealer, paint, prep time etc. It can be an expensive job. Unless of course your old man owns a panel and paint shop. ;)

Hey mate. There were plenty available when i got mine two weeks ago.
This thread has a problem in that people have been incorrectly terming the items described within it.
This is leading to confusion regarding just what IS or ISN'T available at the moment.
Quarter panels are readily available, but what should be described as "sideframes" are on backorder. Up to VZ, sideframes don't even include a quarter panel anyway!

i never said the sideframe did include the quarter... my quarter i got from holden. the guy i was replying to was after a quarter panel.

by sideframe are you now talking about the door aperture frame???

not being rude but thats bloody expensive mate... i have an invoice here which i would happily scan for you, for a brand new one from holden which i bought two weeks ago. It cost me $375 incl GST. A new one is easier to paint and they haven't had all the welds drilled out. There are plenty in stock to so its not like people are having a hard time getting hold of them.

what ever the official part name is what ever the reason there is still NO excuse for having to wait 5 months for parts for a 4 year old Australian made vehilcle. If all thinggs go well now and they make there next ETA (which I highly doubt) I won't get the maloo back until Feburary. its bull$hit. I wish I had have got a turbo F6 ute...

My friends in Ford dealerships have given me just as many horror stories in the last year as Holden have, re the supply of late model parts...:teach:
