Hey guys, I just had the rear guards on my VZ rolled (it has super low kings and 20inch VE gts copies) and i am still having an issue with scrubbing over medium and big bumps!
I dont even want to think about how bad it will get when the car has more then 2 passengers in it!!

Has anyone had similar problems? Is it possible the guy didnt roll the guards all the way around (it seems to me like theres another inch or so worth of guard that could be rolled)

Not sure what do. I cant stand having a car that makes noises!!

Easiest thing to do would be to put wheels on that suit your car. It may not be what you want, but it may be what you HAVE to do.

Or, you could raise the car to a reasonable height - again, maybe not what you want to do.......

Cheers,

Macca

Hey GandF, when I had my VZ SV6 I also had Kings SL. It was fine with the stock 17"s but when I purchased a set of 19"s (245/35) I had to get the rear guards rolled. But whenever I hit a decent bump in the road or poor joins in the road surface (sometimes not even that big), I would scrape. You'll have issues with any weight in the back I reckon. Also if you had your guards rolled I'm assuming they would have rolled them all they possibly could, to have maximum clearance (but I could be wrong).
But as Macca33 stated, not all wheels go on all cars. Good luck and I hope you get it sorted mate.

Where abouts are they rubbing? If its anything like mine and rubs near where the bumper attaches, then you could pull it in with more camber. But then you'll chew tyres. Only option is to raise it half an inch really... That's not an option for me :)

as said.. it really depends where its..
If its rubbing on the bar you might have to shave it abit.. or if its still rubbing at the top of the guard you might have to get the guards pumped out not just rolled..

you could even get abit machined out of the back of the wheel so they sit in abit futher.. but after the broken copy GTS wheels ive seen thats probably not the best idea taking metal out of them.

Get your wheels machine from a tyre joint
it will neva rub again thats what i did with my rims

you could also try shaving the inside of the guards down to where the bumper joins ive done this with my 2002 statesman on SL's and 20's and it worked perfectly, doesn't scrub at all, even with a full car load.

I'm sure insurance companies would LOVE those thinned down rims...

Not only that - increased prospect of wheel failure is downright scary. Why value aesthetics above life???

The younger you are, they more "immune" to death you are perhaps, but you must, always, look good, whatever you do...

I wont be machining anything guys!
I think the easiest/best solution seems like just getting new wheels with a better offset??

Perhaps I'll ride it out until I need new tires, then trade the wheels in for something thatll fit a bit better?

Like others said, the biggest problem is the bracket that holds the rear bumber/gaurd. This can be easily modified and you will have no problems dude.
There are many vz commodores goin around with 20's and with no probs at all.
This is usually the first place they scrub, depending on how much camber its running.
If you can't sort it out. PM me i can steer you in the right direction.
cheers John:)

i have same rims on my car (vy SS) lowered, 1/2 inch higher than super low. gaurds are rolled no scubbing at all with a full car. front little scrubbing on plastic inner gaurds going around round abouts.

i have a vy clubby with 20's and super lows. it sits below the rim and the only place it scraped was the front of the gaurd where the back door is. i just took it to a panel beater and he just cut the little bit out and fixed it all up. it is only like an inch of gaurd that is in the way.

i have no scrape with a full car and a full boot.

hope this helps a bit

Where is it scrubbing, the join between the plastic and metal guard?

Pics?
