Set up all the clips, trimmed the rubber seal and about to wipe the outer rubber seal with rubber cleaner to mount the weathershield and,
BINGO
they require a primer applied as well.
Yep,NO primer in the kit supplied.
Any Holden spares guys out there know if the primer is supplied separately or one simply uses the cleaner and then chuck the weathershield on without any primer.
Seems a bit silly to not supply primer with kit if its required!!!
Thanks HBDB

Mate I wouldn't worry about it. I install at least a couple of these a week and don't even bother with the alcohol wipes. As long as the surface is clean just whip the backing off the tape and slap it on. Haven't had one fall off yet.

Thanks guys
Didnt worry about the primer.Just wiped with the alcowipe to clean it.Guess I'll find out if it stays stuck at the points it wants to come off(down near the mirror). Then its time to maybe get out the black fulaprene sealant:)
Couple of tips.
I took out more rubber from the door seals where the clips mount. Not just where the clip folds over but where it mounts to the door frame as well. This lets the outer rubber seal sit better over the clips.Shouldnt leak if the weathershield doesnt. If it does,Black fulaprene:)
When you insert the top plastic rivets make sure you push the clip up against the weathereshield to allow the rivet to go far enough into the weathershield hole.
You might also need longer bolts(tiny jobbies) for the bottom clips, espc the front one as its a bugga to get in with the ones supplied.Only need to be a couple of mm longer.
Hopefully no more H2O in the cabin via the rain and when the windscreen gets a clean and the windows open.Dont look to bad either.Makes the old VU look that little bit chunkier.
:goodjob: I hope
