First of all great forum you guys have here. There seems to be a shit load of info.

I just have some general questions that i need addressed. Im in the market for a SSV. I know they are doing a $40k drive away for the SS but i went to the local dealer today and they told be that this special pricing does not apply to the SSV model, which im after.

What do you think is the best drive away price that i could get for a new SSV in auto in the current market? Also what do you think of the 6sp auto box, is it good or close to fords excellent ZF box? Generally is the build/reliability comparable Japanese cars? Is the current model an my09 or would the my10 VE II come out soon?

Sorry about the newbie questions...anyway thanks for your time and answers..

Hey mate welcome

Should find some good info in this thread

http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=109273&page=6

From opinions I have gathered the GM 6sp is not as great as the ZF but is still an improvement on the old 4sp and tuning software has been developed for the box and can make a fair bit of improvement if your not happy with the box

I would take 1 for a test drive before u make any decisions. Test drive the auto turbo ford too they are a pretty good package.

Reliability for most is pretty decent. You hear of people having problems but you hear of others having none. Luckily most problems seem pretty minor and if a good dealer is found fixed quick and for good

Good luck with your buy

cheers

I've had a manual SSV and presently have an auto SS.

I'd take the manual any day of the week. not impressed with the auto at all.

Best thing to do is email every dealer in Sydney ask for their best price. 9/10 of them will call you and ask you to come in, see what they will go down to over the phone and then pick 2 or 3 to go see and see what they will do in person.
