Hi All,

I'm new the the forum. I'm so happy. I upgraded my VX Executive to a WK Caprice V8 two days ago with 55,000km on the clock. I bought it from a private seller. The car is in mint condition inside and the engine looks in great nic too. I got it for a good price :eyes:

I've just noticed a few little things with the car, maybe someone can help out a car NooB like me :)

1. When taking off with the drivers side window open, I can hear a quick grinding noise sometimes coming from outside... could it be the breaks?

2. Also when I steer around a tight corner or park the car, there is some kind of rubbing noise coming from the steering the the steering wheel starts shaking... could this be because I'm not used to driving a large car?

3. After a long drive, when I press the break peddle I hear a slightly amplified noise when I press it down. Even when stationary. Its very hard to describe the noise but its not a grinding noise...

Here are some pics of the car:

Welcome mate.

The steering shudder is probably because you are on the lock - don't turn the wheel quite so far.

The other noises is probably normal to be honest - cars do make noise!

Cheers and enjoy your ride - those Caprices are very nice, kind of like a larger Senator!

Cheers,

Macca

Nice ride. Looks really tidy. How much $$$ did you pay? I have had mine for 11 months or so now, had 25,000km on it when I brought it and had a nice set of 19" wheels and low profiles. I paid 33,990 dealer price, which at the time was a good deal for kms and condition, however suspect they are even more of a steal now.

Steering noise may be the power steering pump, especially if it is when you are going full lock. not sure about the other noises though.

I picked her up for $25,000 from a private seller. Got holden to service her and do the break for $1000 (plus some stuff to the steering rod bushels). I still get the turning noise etc but its a lot better now. 55,000km and full service history. I bought it off the first owner since new. Was a private car not business.

The turning noise could be a couple of things-

the link pin from the strut to the swaybar

lower control arm-check the nuts and bolts-

the z bar- check the nuts and bolts also-

or the strut bush on the strut-it might have given up-(happens once in a while)

Thanks

Easily fixed mate.

step 1 Sit in drivers seat

Step 2 Place key in ignition and turn on

Step 3 turn up radio to LOUD!

Sorry, had to do that. Very nice car mate, let the mods begin, you know you will

Turning noise seams to be fixed now... must have been the breaks as they were replaced by local Holden Dealer yesterday.

Still some steering shudder but its not very bad. I will put up with it until the leasing company takes over the car and then we get 30% tax savings on repairs.

No mods for this baby... I'm not the moddin' type. Car is fine stock standard. Plus, once its leased. I wont be able to mod it. Only thing I want to get on it is LPG.

I took it to a mechanic I used to use for my old Commodore and he took it for a spin. He says a power steering fluid fush may help the shudder. He says the shacking may be due to the car sitting in the previous owners garage too long and the tyres may have developed a flat spot.

They are pretty busy and I got it booked in on the 10th Jan for them to have a look.

Any comments from you guys would be appreciated
